Update 9/19/25 My wife and I were in the neighborhood again so we had lunch at Samos. We planned a light lunch. My wife had Avgolemono soup, a Greek specialty. She loves that soup. I had Lentil soup, one of the best Lentil soups I've ever tasted. Then we split the grilled calamari appetizer. It was excellent. I've uploaded a short video to give you an idea of the noise level in Samos when it's busy. Noisy, but you can still converse. My wife and I were in the neighborhood, and it was just after lunchtime. Since the neighborhood we were in was Greektown, we opted for a Greek restaurant.

We were fortunate to arrive slightly after lunchtime so we had our pick of tables.

On arrival, we were greeted and allowed to sit anywhere. The kitchen is wide open to view from the dining area. We saw a neat, clean, well organized kitchen and dining area, and we noted the delicious aromas of Greek cuisine.

The menu was extensive, and service was prompt. My wife ordered a traditional Greek egg based soup to start. It was delicious. I had split pea soup, also delicious.

Next we ordered 2 appetizers. I ordered the calamari, grilled, not fried or breaded. This was an amazing calamari experience. It's not available in most restaurants, and it's worth a trip to Greektown just to have grilled calamari at Samos. My wife ordered a melted cheese appetizer. We split both.

Once we finished the appetizer course, we were pretty much filled up so we requested our check. You pay at the cash register. This makes checking out much more efficient.

The menu is extensive. I'm sure we'll return to try other options. Samos is on a little street, but Google Maps will take you to it. There's free street parking. The restaurant is on the ground floor. It's modestly but nicely decorated. I highly...

Came here with The Missus (Bless 'er) and The Kid recently. Charming little establishment: spotlessly clean, with tables and chairs well-matched to suit this type of restaurant. There are only ten tables (that I counted) in the main part of the restaurant, but they were full the whole time we dined. Everybody was lively and this seemed to be a very popular spot with the locals. BYOB and every table did. The grilled octopus salad was one of the best I've ever had- and I always order it if it is available. The octopus being tender and flavorful, with just a hint of char from the grill. The Missus (Bless 'er) ordered the Taramosalata, and it was excellent. For main courses, the whole grilled Bronzino (which I de-boned) for The Missus (Bless 'er) and the grilled lamb chops (med rare) for The Kid. Both were cooked perfectly. I had the 'Greek Pizza.' Bit of a misstep here: the pizza was piled high with toppings, but was sadly undercooked. I ate a piece and took the rest home, heating it at 500 for ten minutes, and it came out perfect and perfectly delicious. For dessert, the baklava and the galaktoboureko, which was new to me. The Kid and I gobbled both up in almost record time (despite being quite full from the generous portions). Side salads were served before the main courses, and they were waaay above the norm, with lots of fresh feta and crispy veg, the salads are almost a single reason to return. We are hankering to return and try more items from this small place with...

From out of town so I didn’t realize they closed when they did. When realized they were closing in 15 minutes I specifically told the lady I would get it for takeout then and eat it at my hotel. Ordered two entrées and a baklava. When I got my food, I made the mistake of not checking the order so I left and drove 25 minutes to my hotel only to find out they didn’t give me my baklava. By then it was about 25 minutes after they closed so I called to see if they could take the baklava off my credit card because I was sure the credit cards hadn’t been processed yet for the day because there were still a few customers seated when I left the restaurant. They offered for me to come back and get it but when I told them I was about 25 minutes away they told me never mind. I asked if there was anyway to take it off my bill and they said that there wasn’t a manager there so it couldn’t be done that night and I would have to call back. So they wanted me to believe that on a Friday night, with customers still in the building, or just recently vacated within minutes prior to my call, they were already managerless, yeah okay. Either way, didn’t feel like arguing so I said okay. Proceeded to call the next two days during business hours back to back and their phone was too busy to be picked up. Horrible...

Located at the end of long line of rowhomes as far as the eye can see in the Greektown neighborhood of Baltimore sits the classic Samos. Since 1977 they have been serving up some of the cities better Greek meals. You’ll even find the original chef and owner behind the grill still cranking out quality dishes since day 1. Stopping by for lunch today, there was ample seating available which is often not the case at this cash only restaurant. Starting with a few classics such as the saganaki and eggplant spread as well as their delicious avgolemeno, it brought me a warm comfort to be dining here again. While the saganki didn’t come out flaming, it was still quite indulgent and tasty. While they have some of my favorite Greek dressing anywhere, I was in a carnivorous mood as you can see pictured. With a sampling of chicken lamb, pork and beef souvlaki skewers paired with their roasted vegetables you can’t miss. All tender and flavorful as the next. With a side of fresh tzatziki for dipping, you can’t go wrong. If you still have room, do not skip out on the Galaktoboureko with its fresh baked layers of flaky phyllo and warm custard.
