This is definitely a place for persons who have a serious sweet tooth and looking for a gustatory knockout. If that's what you're looking for, this place is it. This was my first time patronizing and don't think it'll be the last. But I won't overdo in supporting (and that's not meant in a bad way). While the cake that I ultimately got wasn't what wanted to get originally (I was aiming for something custom for the occasion [birthday)]), the strawberry crunch cake that Jamillah suggested was more than sufficient. I will say that it is a cake that, imho, says "Expect the unexpected" with its outer icing (when getting it) but at the same time, when you cut into it, it's a case of "not really" while still surprising you. You really do see that pink strawberry crunch color that you'd get from the Good Humor ice cream bar, when you probably were expecting a regular white cake, flavor aside. This cake has some serious gustatory staying power; a little really goes along way in terms of taste and impact (hence my not overdoing in supporting). The only 'downside', if I can really call it such, is the sweetness. It has an all-around sweetness that kicks, slaps and grabs. It was a bit much for some (really one diabetic who couldn't really take as wanted and one, who's a cake critic in her own right, who was trying to lay off the sugar at the moment and digs fresh strawberries for strawberry flavored anything. Can't win them all. 🤷‍♂️). But the man of the hour loved it, absolutely loved it. And it was a knockout for the stomach; it currently sitting half finished as nobody could get a second slice. It was that filling. It surprising did more than job for its size. It's a big thing in a small package. But a word of advice, as this was/is a learning experience for me in ordering from a non-retailer: if you have a sense of how you want the cake you want to have served, and you're not totally sure if the cake offering--while described fairly well on the webpage--align with what you're expecting to get (in terms of flavor, esthetic or both), do discuss with your baker what you're for aiming for, for greater clarity of vision. I will say this, Jamillah will definitely work with you for to the extent that she can. Check it out.

I dont know where to start - all words fall short! more than 5 stars needed for Jamillah at Taste This Cake. I have so many words about the actual cake that I am going to keep the service/communication part short - so responsive, so fun, so helpful, just all around so sweet (pun intended) and amazing! but the cake!! My husband picked up for me because i was busy and when i got back and saw this cake on the counter i was giddy. the packing was cute, the cake was SO BEAUTIFUL, everything i wanted but somehow better. I asked for dried citrus and some greenery but when i saw the Thyme sprigs i thought "ok is jamillah a long lost friend because I feel like she just gets me" . Aside from how it looked, it tasted even better! which i cant believe is possible. I didnt want a traditional super sweet cake and when Jamillah said they could do one of my favorites - olive oil cake, i was locked in. the olive oil cake with lemon curd was fresh and tangy and sweet and salty and moist and delicious and all of the things i wanted. everyone asked where it was from, everyone raved about it, and the words "we will never order a cake from anywhere else" were mentioned multiple times. no notes, all praise. thank you so much!!

As soon as I got engaged I knew I had to have Taste this Cake do my wedding cake. I had tried her olive oil cake when I frequented Full Tilt brewery located in front of B-More kitchen and it is amazing. When I picked up my tasting box I knew I wanted olive oil cake but everything was so delicious I ultimately went with almond, strawberry and vanilla buttercream- it was the winning combo for me. l couldn’t have been happier with the choice and the design was a perfect compliment to the Rawlings Conservatory venue and exactly what I wanted. The guest are still talking about how great the cake was and the best wedding cake/cake they ever had! Jamillah sent me a small olive oil cake loaf to the venue and it was the most delicious surprise and post wedding treat. That kind of attention and care takes it over the top! I can’t recommend Taste This Cake enough!! Every cake I need from now on will be from here and I can’t wait to “need” another cake.

My wife and I bought a beautiful and delicious wedding cake from Taste This Cake. We hope not to plan another wedding, but if we were planning another wedding we would go with Taste This Cake again in a heartbeat.

Jamillah gave us the flexibility to choose different flavors for different tiers. She incorporated our design ideas into an artful and beautiful cake. Our guests told us over and over again how much they enjoyed it. My wife has a dairy sensitivity, so we asked to try the vegan buttercream. I was worried that the taste might be off without dairy, but it was fantastic. The guests didn't even notice the buttercream was vegan.

Jamillah was also fantastic to work with. The wedding planning process was kind of stressful for us in general, but we were delighted and relieved every time we spoke with Jamillah. Her joyous personality and positive outlook lifted our spirits during our initial inquiry, the tasting, and conversations about cake decorations and...
