the review no longer applies since my last visit there. I had ordered the Linguini with clam sauce which they did either alfredo or red sauce. I only know what to be served with garlic and oil but got canned clams with a funky sauce over pasta. I found a bug in my food. It happens I know that. What had me most upset was that when asked if I wanted another or something else I had stated that it kind of ruined my appetite and I was done. I overheard the waitress telling the cook in the kitchen that I did not want another one. The cook is also the owner. He decided, even though he knew I didn't want another one, to serve me another entree of the same. I told him I was not interested in eating it when he brought it out and he offered to box it up for me to go. I was not looking for a free meal but I certainly wasn't looking for anybody to push a dinner on me that I specifically said I did not want. Most establishments would comp you the meal especially since you didn't eat any of it. This place is money hungry and greedy. I did not appreciate the customer service and even though there are items on the menu I will never go back there again due to the rude owner and how we handle situations. representation of basic Italian entrees and appetizers that I have had since I lived on the East Coast. Reminds me of a place around the corner from where I lived. The service is excellent the owner is really nice. Even the bread they serve before dinner is wonderful. You can't go wrong if you're looking for a good red tomato gravy. We give it 5 Stars just for being around locally and being as...
Read moreThe good... the stuffed mushrooms were excellent!! As this was the opener for our meal, we held high hopes for what was to come...
The meh... my chicken parmesan was mediocre.. while the chicken was super juicy and tender, the sauce was nothing to write home about. My husband had the fish and shrimp in pasta and I've never seen him so bored with a dish. Neither of us finished any of it.
The ugly... the staff did not pay attention to my order. I request chicken parm with a side of fettucine alfredo at nearly every Italian restaurant we visit. This is the first time I've ever had waitstaff not understand my request. She told the kitchen a side if alfredo sauce to start. When I corrected and explained what I wanted again, she charged us for a kid's portion of pasta. When I removed the side of spaghetti on my plate (very bland marinara by the way) and replaced it with the fettucine, she finally figured out what I intended. She apologized for the misunderstanding but still charged me for the kid's portion.
And to end it all, it was all mostly flavorless. Unfortunately this was our anniversary dinner during travel and we were immensely disappointed given other's reviews.
Luckily, I had good company in my husband and we'll go back to Don Chepe next time we want to...
Read moreWent here last year and loved the food and how lively the server was when he took my order. I enjoyed the authentic Italian food and how the staff was joking around. I felt very comfortable. However, my experience today was very different. For starters, the place was dirty and unclean. The waitress tried her best ,but honestly I missed my walter from my last visit. Therefore, in general, the servers that were there today were not friendly and I received a glare from another waitress when I asked for more coffee. On another note,my salad had old anitokes (some of them had black spots) they obviously from a can and my pasta was drenched in more water than sauce. In short, the food was no longer fresh like my previous visit from a year ago..my parents commented that cheese was old and that there chicken parm tasted frozen. I realize since the economy is now struggling, it is hard to own a business and make a profit. I can't imagine what hardship the family is going through and I wish them success...BUT simple things like cleaning, better service and more passion in the food would help them bring more customers. I was really looking forward to eating here and drove a hour and a half ,but unfortunately I was met with...
