Most restaurants will try to help with gluten-free issues even if they don’t have a separate menu or other options. This restaurant acts like they never heard of being gluten-free or having a food allergy.
A steak is usually a safe bet for people who are following a gluten-free diet, and that’s what I ordered. It came on a bed of risotto, usually another safe haven. I originally asked if there was a separate gluten-free menu (which there isn't) but some things could be made gluten-free. I repeatedly asked the server if things were gluten-free and even asked her to tell the kitchen staff that I have an allergy to gluten. I guess it fell on deaf ears.
When the steak was delivered, the server announced that the risotto was not gluten feee (?) and they could make it gluten-free. She told me I should have asked for it that way originally because it would take a long time to make. What the heck?!! They knew I was gluten-free from the moment I sat down. Why wasn't it prepared gluten-free the first time?! Why are they putting flour in risotto anyway??
Needless to say, my steak was ruined since sat on the risotto that wasn't glutens-free. They had to make a new steak for her and I sat there while the entire table of 10 ate their meals.
This could have been avoided if the staff cared about their customers. Many other restaurants at least try. We have been here many times before I developed this allergy and loved it. It is not easy to be gluten-free in our society. I do my best to be polite and understanding to the restaurant so as not to cause a fuss. But when the wait-staff blatantly ignores the issue, it hurts.
If you have food allergies, you probably should go somewhere else. Hopefully management will read this review and remedy...
Read moreI had some plans to meet friends here for a night out. My friends arrived before me. Before entering they were stopped at the front door by the one girl's ex boyfriend who was obnoxiously screaming "You're banned from here. You can't come in." He smelled very highly of alcohol. He then got the bartenders involved and had them yelling at my friends as well. None of us have ever been notified of being banned from this establishment?! She wanted clarification on why but nobody could give an answer. She asked for the owner's information to get to the bottom of this but they all refused to provide the requested information. At that point my friends diverted themselves from the situation willingly. This is very unacceptable, especially with no justified reasoning. Due to the poor business management many of my friends and I will not step foot in this establishment. There are many other local pubs that my friends and I will now patronize. We will ensure that the community is aware of how customers are treating other paying customers and dictating staff members. I will inform my workplace of this terrible experience and we will throw all of our future events elsewhere. This was a very discriminatory setting. It was not...
Read moreMy husband and I came here the weekend before St. Patrick day. When I say we were blown away at how good this place was, it was all we talked about for the rest of the night! We were immediately sat and offered menus. we were excited to try some of the local beverages that we were familiar with but also had the choice of trying some new brews. The waitress was wonderful, giving us some of the new things coming soon and some of the background and history of how this pub came to be and hopes of where it will go. The food here was amazing! The size of our plates were enough to be full and still have enough to bring some home to have later. The wings were full size! And sauce was delicious. The burger was made with bacon in the meat itself and cooked just the way I liked! The fries were hand cut and also cooked perfectly! When asked about a small brew that was in its experimental phase, we were offered a sample to try..its safe to say this cozy spot is a must-see because we sure will be going back ourselves! Thank you for a...
