Hill Tree Roastery — Restaurant in Barboursville

I've had this company on my radar for some time, but am no longer local. I have struggled to find someone who could roast coffee without trying to imitate the big chains that burn beans. (Looking at you, Starbucks). Monday I pulled the trigger and ordered after hearing that Hill Tree had a Kenya AA available.

Ordered Sunday night, roasted Monday, delivered Wednesday to South Carolina. Already top notch.

I've visited a lot of roasters in my travels, but I'm happy to say that Hill Tree is one of the best (and it's in my hometown!). Alec is knowledgeable and passionate about what he does and it shows in the coffee. All of the roasts are single origin (At least the one's I've had) with farm, origin, and other notes right there on the label. I've not had a bad coffee from Hill Tree and I don't think I ever will.
