My husband and I went to Tried and True for the first time Friday 3/15/19. It was busy due to it was a Friday night and the fact it was St. Patrick's Day Weekend. There was about a 45 minute wait which we didn't mind waiting and walked to the bar to grab a beer while we waited. A few seats opened up at the bar and we sat down there but still waited for a table since we wanted to eat dinner at the table. The bartenders were extremely friendly, and organized, and professional. The patrons at the bar and in the bar were really great too. We had an older couple sitting next to us that even let us try their Buffalo chicken dip since we hadn't been there before. It was delicious. We decided to order the chicken and waffle bites which were absolutely hands down one of the best appetizers I've ever had. Our table was ready for us. We closed our bar tab and headed to the table. I want to say I think we got the best server in that restaurant. His name was Devante(i am sorry if its spelled wrong) He was so kind, and friendly, knowledgeable, funny, and was really great at multitasking. He found out it was our first time and went above and beyond to get us a free appetizer to begin our dinner. We have been to many new restaurants and have never received a surprise like that. Devante was great with offering us opinions on dishes and some of his favorites. I could keep writing on and on about Devante but it would be pages. Haha - Long review short- we have such wonderful customer service throughout the entire night. We felt right at home and will absolutely be back again. Thank...
Read morePlease understand that this review has been edited and is a before and after experience. Please read all before considering. I feel, to be fair, a place should be visited multiple times before posting a review so after four visits, here is my take; The atmosphere is consistantly great so it has that going in its favor but that's about where the consistency ends. In the service department, I experienced everything from amazing service from a very professional server one evening to what seemed to be a server social gathering on the next visit. The very next visit?... Same thing again. Finally, my final visit was another good service experience but this brings me to the food problem. I'm here for wings and beer because I love wings and beer and I was told that this is the place to come for wings... and beer. On multiple occasions the wings didn't come out tossed but instead came plain with little dipping sauces. Bone in wings with dipping sauce? No thanks. Toss the wings please. All in all, not really a spectacular experience. Good atmosphere, good beer and if you get lucky you will get a good server. Pass on the wings. Edit: I don't feel like it would be fair to not edit my review if upon returning, things have changed. And they have changed for the better! Since I enjoy the atmosphere and the beer, I have returned several times since my last review and am extremely satisfied with the service that I received. The servers are friendly and fast as well as attentive. I was left with a much better impression than earlier...
Read moreEDIT: My husband spoke with the GM the next day. The GM apologized and explained that was not their policy. The manager who refused to serve him originally had related what had happened differently. He told his GM my husband had requested alcohol and was belligerent, and that was the reason he was asked to leave. He failed to tell his GM it was over sweet tea. The GM invited us back and offered some complimentary stuff. We will definitely go back, but we declined the complimentary staff as it was not the reason for his call.
There was a 45 min wait on a Thursday evening. No big deal, we were ready to wait. We had just driven almost an hour there on motorcycles. My husband went in and asked to buy a sweet tea while we wait. The bartender started to get the tea, then the manager stopped him and told him he couldn't serve him until we were seated. He wouldn't even sell us a drink in a to-go cup. He cited COVID as the reason why. Mind you, the restaurant was at full capacity with people waiting inside and out. There was also a full bar. There was also a beer rep present offering to buy everyone a drink, even the people who were with us waiting at the bar while my husband was trying to get tea. No one was wearing masks, nor were they social distancing. When my husband motioned around the restaurant, indicating all the people and said, "Are you f*ing serious?" the manager told him to leave. Grant it, he did swear, but by that time, he was frustrated with hypocrisy and...
