Captain's Table — Restaurant in Barnstable

Went out for a special lunch with friends. The view is the only thing they have going for them. The lunch menu is mostly sandwiches and salads. I thought they specialized in seafood and steak. Nothing creative or worth raving about. Their computer system is antiquated and could not split up a gift card 3 ways which caused a huge problem for them in finalizing our bill. There were three people trying to figure this out including the manager, who was rude to us and said she could not spend anymore time on it because she was late for a meeting ! Instead of taking the $100.00 right off the total bill and simply letting us split the rest. It was embarrassing to have such discussion in the middle of the dining room ! My card ended up getting charged the entire bill of almost $200.00 while my two friends got charged another $120.00. It finally got corrected when we went back 4 days later when I saw how much was charged to my card, and I told the hostess I needed to talk to the bookkeeper because the manager made a mistake on my bill . Her rude reply was “ my manager does not make mistakes “. They finally corrected the mess they made, without apology. This is not the Captain’s Table of the past. No class and a pitiful menu ! Just think, we pay a couple hundred dollars a year to be treated like this !...

This was a "thank you for dog sitting" luncheon. What a wonderful treat. The Club was impressive from the parking lot!! But inside it was magnificent. The display case was filled with trophies. Very impressive !!! We were escorted to a table overlooking Lewis Bay. The view was mesmorizing. No small boats, just the ferry's. The food was delicious. I selected fish and chips. WOW I wasn't disappointed. The fish was so flaky and so tasty. The portion was filling. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere was calming. We recently had our wedding reception on the Deck at the Hyannis Yacht Club. To say everything was perfect would be an understatement. From the set up to the food to the staff, we couldn't have asked for better. Kelly was fantastic and so helpful. Planning this reception while Covid restrictions were in place was a challenge. Kelly was very helpful and flexible and put us at ease. The day of the event was perfect. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially April. Chef Bob did a phenomenal job with the food.
