Let me preface by saying we were there to celebrate my brother's birthday. There was 8 adults in our party and we spent over a thousand dollars there this evening. To start, the service was horrible. The waitress was rude and condescending to everyone. When the meal was over, she overcharged my credit card. The food was subpar. All the steaks were over cooked, the lobster bisque tasted sour and spoiled, the bread was hard and a bit stale. Having been there for about an hour and a half, after the appetizers and cocktails and about 15 minutes into our main course, some short, cowardly man, whom was dressed like a high school gym teacher wearing an apron, comes to our table and tells my brother and my son that there is a dress code at the restaurant and that they needed to remove their hats. My son is dealing with alopecia and wears a hat to cover patchy hair and my brother has some scaring from a childhood infection on the top of his head and thus they normally wear hats. Granted, the gym teacher/sous chef didn't know this, but was rude about it and the way he conveyed the message. The ironic part was that he, himself was wearing a baseball cap. We saw the sign about the "business casual" dress code and we were not trying to be difficult, but there were plenty of violators there. A man in cargo shorts, a t-shirt and new balance sneakers sat near us the entire night and nothing was said to him. Everyone in my party are Mexican and we all agreed that this was some of the worst service and just overall experience any of us had ever encountered, and that it all had the unfortunate undertone of racism. I have 4 younger brothers and we normally rotate through local steak houses for our birthdays, Harry Caray's, Morton's, Gibsons, Capital Grille, Jimmy's Charhouse... but we will never give business to Ruth's Chris again. Do yourself a favor, drive the extra 15 minutes to Woodfield and go to Wildfire and skip this place.

Very nice dinner but for the price it would be a rare splurge, even during happy hour. Went for a last minute casual Happy Hour dinner with a friend on a Wednesday night. Sat in the bar lounge which was very comfortable seating. They had large high back chairs that helped give a private booth type feel. We weren't rushed at all. We were there close to 2 hours. Waitress wasn't overly attentive which was nice. Happy hour menu is a bit pricier than I had expected, was hoping for some more reasonably priced items to be on it. I expect happy hour drinks to be priced under $8 and my margarita was small and nothing specialfor $11. The Spicy Shrimp ($12) was definitely worth the price though. Delicious taste with just the right amount of crunch and heat, not overly breaded. I ordered my New York Strip ($58) and Au gratin potatoes (additional $$13) off the dinner menu as I don't like wine and the steaks on the happy hour are both paired with wine ($48 pairing). The New York Strip was perfectly tender and delicious although the presentation wasn't very appealing. I ordered it medium (think it was a tad morr toward the medium well side) but it wasn't overcooked at all it was scrumptious!! The Au gratin potatoes looked heavenly and the flavors did not disappoint. I wish I had ordered the asparagus as well but by the time we were finished the bill was $185 and I was stuffed so maybe next time. Total ordered: Happy Hour Margarita ($11) Happy Hour Filet &Rosé ($38) Happy Hour Spicy Shrimp ($12) Dinner menu: New York Strip ($58) Dinner menu: Au gratin potatoes ($13) Regular coffee Ruth's coffee ($12) Cheesecake ($11) Crème Brûlée ($11)

Well, despite being a high end steakhouse restaurant in competition between "Morton's Steakhouse" or "Gibson Steakhouse" and this being the 1st time eating here due to a treat out of picking up my close friend from O'Hare Airport and go to "Cooper's Hawk" restaurant that we were originally wanted but was not open for reservations. We then decided to give a try at this place that he knew but never went to. Food was great but service was below quality standards. It took them awhile between asking the Waiter or server (Named Dan) and the other staff members to serve me and my friend and give us bread. The Mushroom Crab Cake to me did not have any "Wow" taste to it or any significance. I did taste the crab seafood mix overpowering the texture of mushroom but nothing special between me and my friend talking about it as an appetizer. The steaks we ordered was savory. I had a Ribeye steak cooked medium rare and my friend had a New York Strip medium well. I ordered a Merlot red wine to match the steak I was eating next to extra sides of Fresh Cooked Broccoli, Grilled Asparagus and Mashed Potatoes which was delicious as well. I also had the Lobster Bisque soup which had a hint of Cinnamon spice and was light texture with the Lobster. The other disappointment was the time to deliver the desserts. Took Them 10 minutes which should NOT be just to deliver a bread pudding with Whiskey sauce custard and my friends unusual looking Cheesecake with Fruits. All in All I was somewhat disappointed at the service and to make people who see this review aware about that. Do not expect to be great service. Might be a hit or miss. No consistency.

Beautiful restaurant 😍. Went for my husband's and daughter's birthday. Let's start with the rude host. We had reservations for 4, however it ended up being 5 with my son. Okay yes that's my fault. First thing she blurts out " we can't accommodate you, your reservations is for 4". I sd so since I have 1 extra person, a child.. i can't have my reservations.. then she's like hold on, now both host are shaking their heads and looking at the screen. She goes well we can't put you in the dining room we can sit you in the bar area. Okay fine whatever. Reservations for 7:15 .. got sat at 7:50.. okay whatever. We sit. They take forever to come to table.. at this point I'm convinced they just don't want to service us. Finally the bar guy comes .. wasn't bad service but you could tell he didn't want to be there. He wasn't friendly or engaging with us at all. Told him we had 2 birthdays- didn't even acknowledge. Welp ok.. let's just get to the point of why we're here. Ordered apps- 2 salads 2 spicy shrimps not bad although shrimp was cold.. didn't say anything. However lobster bisque- sorry but im not eating cold soup..definitely sent that back. Once I did that.. that server never came back. They switched. No introduction no nothing. I had to ask, did we change servers or something. She's says we'll we help each other.. well ok great, hi 👋. She was definitely more attentive then the first guy, but it's almost like they made us feel as if we were in the wrong place. It was very awkward. Main course- Tomahawk- suppose to be 40oz- guaranteed it was no where near. Split chicken- absolute favorite was the size of a baby chicken thigh. Lobster Mac n cheese- disgusting- wasn't even cooked all the way and was runny like milk. Brussel sprout were good, but cold. She was really nice and replaced them. Mashed potatoes- cold but kids had no problem eating them since we waited 45 min for our food after ordering. She did replenished drinks in timely matter. There was no " thank you for joining us" it was more like oh I dropped the bill off. 😅 No mention of birthdays- nothing. I'm really convinced that the place was being just didn't want us there With all that being sd spent $500 on mediocre food another $100 ( would've been more had we had good service) for tip for mediocre service - only did that cause I believe in tipping and $15 to the busser cause he was working hard. Didn't get 1 thanks for dining, thanks for coming, have a good evening.. not a nothing. Definitely would not drive 1hr and 15 min for that great food and service again. Thanks Ruth's Chris for everything! They have STK and RPM prices but no where near the quality...

We have been long time customers of Ruth's Chris and have to say this will be the end of our long-term relationship! Ruth's Chris has been our "go to" for many years and has gone "down hill" the last few years! Paying $100+ per person for fine dining is a lot of money, especially these days!

After the last ten days of snowstorms and freezing temperatures, we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. It was anything but nice! First, our drinks took a long time which we understood that it was Friday night! Second, we ordered calamari which came out cold! We advised the server and she brought out a new one that was hot, but lost its luster! The manager did come by and apologize and said being busy was no excuse for cold food! Third, our steaks came out and mine was undercooked and his was overcooked. The server agreed and immediately apologized and took them away. The steaks we ordered were served with shrimp, which we kept while news steaks were cooking, but the shrimp was cold! The asparagus was cold and so was the baked potato! When I say cold, they were COLD, not even warm!

The manager didn't come over until we told our server that we were just going to leave and didn't need any more food, we just wanted to leave. The re-cooked steaks came out with no shrimp, just the steak and at this point, we had already nibbled on the cold sides! We were so hungry and even left hungry! They wrapped the re-cooked steaks for us to take home and presented a check for $58 which I believe was a charge for the sides. The server asked if the manager ever came by and we said no. She was shocked and apologized. As we were getting up from the table, the manager appeared and said he doesn't know what to say! It was all very weird and uncomfortable! The whole meal should have been comped and we still spent $100 for one drink in the bar and at the table along with the sides and tip. The only positive thing about our experience was the salads, which is served cold!

Unfortunately, we will no longer be returning to Ruth's Chris after probably dining at least 100 times within the last 15 years! Ruth's Chris is NOW comparable to "Outback Steakhouse!"

One more thing, we loved the old decor and lighting, but they remodeled and it's not the same! The the old lighting decor, was very unique!

Don't waste your time and money dining here! Travel a little further and dine at "Capital Grille"...

First off, our server Amanda was perfect!! Me and my wife went for our anniversary. We actually drove 2 hours to see what all excitement was about. My bone in ribeye was excellent. My wifes filet was cooked perfectly but the cut of meat wasn't that great. The brussel sprouts were way over cooked but hardly warm. The all gratin potatoes tasted great but not cooked!! The potatoes were raw and hard. The meal was definitely rushed. Amanda was fantastic and very apologetic and brought us a very nice dessert. They did comp the drinks and took off the potatoes. We felt that was fair and we were satisfied. I would have given 4 stars up until we were leaving and nicely asked the male bearded bartender if he could take a picture of us. He immediately cut my wife off and said he couldn't because he was counting money. 🙄 It was pretty rude and up until that moment we were having a pretty good night. My wife went from smiles to literal tears. It was a pretty simple request. The guy was rude and arrogant. Not something you would expect from someone in the service industry. The mishaps with the food were easily forgiven. But the treatment from that bartender was unnecessary and ridiculous. One other thing I'd like to add. There's supposed to be a dress code there. Not terribly strict. It's a pretty reasonable dress code. But we seen three different couples that definitely had no regard. Two guys had gym shorts on!! One woman had a tee shirt and ripped jeans and gym shoes on. And one guy had jeans (fine), a sports team jacket (that he wore the entire time), and a baseball hat!! I thought the place was more of a fine dining establishment. I suspect they don't want to confront or enforce the reasonable dress code to certain people. Just my thoughts, but weather anyone would want to admit it, I'll bet I'm right. Treat everyone equal. If someone comes in under dressed, simply tell them there is a dress code. It's degrading to a place that's supposed to be a finer...
