Soma — Local services in Barrington Township

This started as a good experience and went downhill very fast on January 8th. My mother and I were greeted immediately upon arrival and asked what we could be helped with. Sales lady (JoAnne) measured me and started pulling bras for me to try on since I've never shopped at Soma before but have heard good reviews. Quickly found that there were only three bras in the store that I could try on in my size which was disappointing but not unexpected with Covid times. I went into the fitting room and was instantly uncomfortable, in the fitting room across from me there was a man and woman. The entire time I was trying on bras and letting my sales lady in and out of my fitting room I could hear the man commenting on the bras the woman with him was trying on. After checking out at the cash register, the sales associate showed us out since it was 5 minutes after closing. As we were walking out my mother slipped on the icy brick pavement and fell forward out of the store. Rather than helping us, the sales lady said "Oh no, are you ok?" before quickly closing the door (while my mother was on the ground), locking it, and leaving me to gather my mother and her belongings off the ground. This was our first time visiting this location and it was the last! And no, my mother is not ok...

Right when I walked in the door, I was greeted, offered a changing room, and sized. As the salesperson (Becca) pointed out, bra sizing here is a slightly different than at Victoria's secret, so do try on bras before purchasing and Becca was on it with handing me various sizes for bras and underwear to try on. I got a bunch of seamless underwear and bras (super comfortable and love the material, love that they have a seamless bralette with a V cut vs scoop lines everywhere else). I had grabbed a few things from the store after changing and Becca was great in noticing that I had grabbed the wrong size for something and changing it out for me (also, it was busy with many ppl coming in for last day of a sale). Went in to store to have a professional fitting. Bought 3 full price bra's that were in my size. Took tags off at home to wear the following week. BIG mistake just not the same fit. Tags off; no return. Hand washed 1st bra and gently tried to reshape. Nope! Needed to go to fabric store & buy extenders. Ordered on line next sizing same style, even worse/smaller. Then it became too long to return. Tried to order a different style...well let's say I'm not a Soma fan & leave it at that. The store is pretty, the staff generally young & inexperienced.
