I love supporting local business and am deeply saddened to be writing this review however I feel it has to be said. I had lunch here with a business friend and had the club wrap. I must say it was very tasty.
I decided to come back as I thought this would be our new spot in Basehor for lunch and dinner. Unfortunately my second visit was not pleasant at all. The waitress was in a rush and was quite rude. No big deal though, everybody has bad days.
I ordered the crispy chicken wrap with fries and honey mustard. That night I came down with the worst food poisoning I’ve ever seen or experienced. I must have thrown up 7 or 8 times and it is now conflicting with my work, so much so, we were considering going to the Emergency Room. After talking with some friends, one of them came down with food poisoning as well from the same meal a few days earlier.
Kelly’s I would like to ask you to look into the way this food is prepped, the cleanliness of the kitchen and the expiration of the food your serving. Unfortunately I will not be...
Read moreKelly's is a long-standing casual dining restaurant in the Basehor, Kansas area, just a few miles West of the Village West area of Kansas City, Kansas. The restaurant features several staples of a small town cafe, such as Chicken Fried Steak and Cheeseburgers, as well as a descent selection of kids meals, appetizers, and desserts.
The food is good, not great, and unfortunately the speed of the meal was pretty rough. It's busier on a Sunday afternoon, and if you don't have anything going on it would be a fine place to sit and be with your party, but it took around two hours after being seated for everything to be completed. Obviously that's egregious in itself, but moreover, the portion sizes weren't great and the taste wasn't anything special. Though it gets a slightly higher star rating for being a local restaurant trying to make it in 2022, it would be hard to recommend someone eating here over the myriad of options five or so minutes...

We have been wanting to try Kelley's for awhile and had an opportunity today 6/7, 6pm-ish. Stepped in, and saw that there were plenty of tables open. Stood by the "wait to be seated sign", and watched staff walking about.
Eventually got noticed by someone, perhaps the hostess? And she told us she would be with us shortly. She walked back and forth from the register to a nearby table, stopped to visit with another table, and then walked past us again.
I've learned that for small restaurants, the service you get from the host is pretty indicative of the service to expect... as that host is frequently an owner or manager.
We waited some more, then grew weary of waiting and left. I'm bummed.... there are so few places to sit down and eat once you get west of the Legends, that it would have been nice to find a good local place with...
