Even though I'm not big on leaving negative reviews unless they truly deserve it.. I must share my experience. Me and my nephew came for a very late dinner since he was craving spaghetti. He was so happy when he heard they were open until 9. We were greeted by the door by a sweet little boy with a basketball. Made quick conversation and then asked if my nephew could play outside on the sidewalk with him. I told him maybe after we eat dinner. It was late and we were starved. We came in and 4 out of the idk.. 8 tables were dirty and the others were preoccupied. A lady looked over at me like she was confused I was standing there waiting. We waited a few more seconds and then said.. can you seat 2? She kind of nodded before deciding she would eventually clean a table off. Didn't say much. Very soft spoken. Not a biggie. Until it came to ask for our order. I could not understand anything she said and just assumed she was asking what we wanted to drink. I just said 2 waters. She walked away.. but the little boy stayed at our table leaning into asking if he could go play. I said for the 5th time.. maybe after dinner. My 6 year old nephew is to be polite and respectful and sit until his dinner arrives. The boy (around 7) then started to ask questions to make conversation. I replied with questions like do you enjoy playing basketball? Which school do you go to to see if maybe they went to the same school. He snapped and said I'm home school duh.. why would I need to go to regular school. I just laughed it off. My nephew asked what the place was called and apparently I pronounced it wrong the boy snapped on me and corrected me. Laughed it off again. The boys chatted.. and I eventually got to the point of.. ya know.. where are his parents? I asked the boy if he liked ice cream (since they serve it and it was brought up) and he replied with.. I already told you this.. and gave me an ugly look. Whatever right? I means he's 7. But who's looking over at him to correct his manners? Who does he belong to? Then our food was served and the waiter kinda tugged on the boys jacket and whispered in his ear. I then realized who he belonged to. He never left the table. So I figured he was lonely and bored so I let him sit with us. He insisted that my nephew go play outside. I started to get irritated. The point of us going to have dinner was to talk about what has been going on with him in school. I never had that chance. Not a biggie.. but the woman never came to my table to bring me my ticket until 5 minutes after everyone was gone, and my nephew was allowed to go play outside and I was sitting there looking at my watch. It was 9:10. They closed at 9. She gave me my ticket. Everything was different than what was priced on the menu. Not a huge deal, i get it, prices are rising on everything.. but everything was $2 more? Kids pasta said 3 and some change. Add meatballs was .79 on menu.. spahhetti was over $5 and meatballs were over $2 per for an inch big. Maybe for 2 or 3.. but over $2 for a meatball for about a quarter sized meatball? I waited about 3 minutes before I was realizing I'll just find her to give her my card. I shouldn't have to wait when I immediately put my card on the ticket the second she went to turn around. No communication. No interacting or customer service. 2 stars since my nephew got...
Read moreStopped here while driving through from Houston. It was recommended on a few lists as well as by a few people at Buccee's down the road. It was very easy to find. there is a fair amount of parking out front.
We were seated right away, there wasn't a wait on an early Tuesday evening. There are a handful of tables here, so it could get crowded but I'm not sure how the dinning crowd is in Bastrop. Everyone at my party ordered the Tuesday special which was fettuccine alfredo with chicken. I ordered the cheesy bread and it took a while for it to come out although it was an appetizer. The other girls appetizer came out much quicker than mine, so it wasn't timed too well, but we weren't in a hurry. We weren't given any plates or napkins/utensils for our appetizers though. The cheesy bread was very good to me, actually it was my favorite thing that I had here. The entrees all came out, but mine hardly had any chicken it had about 10 tiny pieces of chicken. There was a ton of pasta but hardly any chicken. The other two had a little more chicken than myself but not much. The chicken was pretty dry though. The pasta was okay, but the price for the dinner special was so cheap that I felt it wasn't worth complaining over. I also ordered a dessert, I got the strawberry shortcake. The shortcake was angel food cake, so it was light yet dense at the same time, it wasn't very tasty though. It was a little dry and probably store bought. The gelato made it much better though. The strawberries were okay, probably because it was out of season. I am disappointed that walking into a place with creamery in the name that the ice cream/gelato cabinet was empty.
The service was okay, the food was decent for the very reasonable pricing. I may or may not stop here again if I am driving through. It was worth a try and I can't complain about...
Read moreMy bf and I took a road trip for our anniversary and on our way home decided we wanted pizza. I did some quick googling and this place had a high rating so we decided to stop. I felt kinda bad because there was just the one waitress having to serve several tables but she was pretty on the ball. She refilled our drinks pretty much as soon as we needed them. I just felt bad because she was doing the work of two waitresses, easily. But she knew what she was doing.
Now let's talk about the food MY GOD. Please for the love of God don't ever change your recipes!! I'm originally from Pittsburgh, where there's a 10/10 pizza place on every corner. Meanwhile in my decade of living in Austin, this is the 2nd pizza I had that is even close to being comparable. But let me be more specific. We got a large Pepperoni and an order of mozzarella sticks, in addition to 2 of the lemonades, one strawberry and one raspberry.
Even just the drinks were soooo good. So good! Highly recommend both types of lemonade we had. The mozzarella sticks- you could tell they were fresh and not just like frozen and reheated. The breading was so good. 10/10 easily. And the pizza.... The sauce was perfect, not too tomatoey, the crust was not a premade crust. It tasted like they literally just tossed it in the back. They might have for all I know. I wouldn't be surprised. The cheese was perfect and the pepperoni was crispy and slightly overcooked, to PERFECTION. I love crispy pepperoni.
This is all to say that even though I live over 25 miles from this place, I WILL be making the trip again for this pizza. Actually, probably tomorrow, since I now am craving it again after writing this lol. (Do not change your...
