10 of us came into the restaurant on Friday very hungry and thirsty after my sons baseball game. It was packed but thankfully, we did not have a crazy wait time! The atmosphere was great, maybe a little loud, but we definitely contributed to that as well! Keep that in mind if you or your partner want a quiter place for a weekend night. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and all the servers were hard at work. The atmosphere was very lively! Our sever was a handsome young man with the most beautiful curly hair I have ever seen. His name was Hakeem k. He was very organized and handled our table with ease while serving other tables. He was very patient with the children, even when one spilled their drink, of course. I had the carne asada topped with grilled shrimp and a frozen sangria margarita! It was top tier, it came out sizzling. When I seen the way it sizzled and smelled, I was like this is what I came to a Mexican restaurant for!!! All 10 of us ate everything and left nothing to bring home! We walked out very full and overly satisfied. My son does not like beans, but absolutely loves their bean dip. Hakeem provided a great dinner with a show! Haha. I can't find anything negative to say. If you want Mexican food on lsu campus, you absolutely have to give this...
Read moreI wish I was able to give a positive review and tell people to go try this place. But today I have to go the other way and say "don't bother". There's just no enthusiasm about the waiting staff. Even though we could see the young girl was trying, I feel she knew she was beating a dead horse. Let's get to the food....my significant other ordered hard tacos. They came out soft and had to go back. Then they came back with the most skimpy serving of cheese we had ever seen, and they were mediocre at best. I ordered the Mexican burger. Big mistake. The patty was about as dry as an Arab's sandal. Tasted nothing like Mexican at all (we dine Mexican a lot). And the bun was so stale I was knocking it on the plate that it was louder than the music playing. I asked for a separate plate and when she brought that to the table I just tossed the stale bun onto it. Which sounded like a brick. Bottom line....we will never return. We didn't ask for any discount for the poor quality and were offered none to boot. This joint appears to be owned and run by an white American man who knows absolutely nothing about Mexican cuisine. We would have just been better off going to Taco Bell. Would have ate like royalty for what we spent here. My advice....spend your hard earned money...
Read moreGrowing up in a small West Texas town, I was surrounded by some of the best Mexican food imaginable—treasured family recipes brought straight from Mexico by dear friends. So when I visited Los Reyes Mexican Grill on Lee Drive, I knew right away I had found something special. The first bite transported me back to my childhood at Wela and Welo’s table.
I ordered the ribeye steak—juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned—served with fluffy rice and creamy refried beans. The three soft tacos, filled with flavorful ground beef, came with the same comforting sides, I demolished before taking the picture. A cup of rich, velvety queso and complimentary crisp chips rounded out my meal perfectly.
Yasmine and Ashley at the front counter were warm and welcoming, even taking the time to make my four-year-old laugh while we waited. I also had the pleasure of chatting with Manager Adam, whose passion for his staff and the food was clear. I edited this review, I forgot to thank the cooks!
I’d happily make the 45-minute drive for another plate. Los Reyes is more than just a restaurant—it’s a taste of home....
