I ate at Piccadilly as a kid with my grandmother and remember how much I liked the food. I used to get the hamburger steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, snap beans and a big yeast roll. The food was always seasoned well but not spicy. Well, fast forward to now, some 30 years later. I had a craving for that exact meal I used to get as a kid. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and guided us through the process of going through the line and getting our food. We get to the table and remove the individual plates, saucers and bowls from our trays. The waitress comes by with extra napkins and takes the trays out of our way and I prepare to dig in to my hamburger steak. I take a bite and it's bland and rubbery. Well, let me try the mashed potatoes and gravy. Tastes like a gravy mix 😔. The snap beans were bland and overcooked (with no bacon) and the big beautiful yeast roll that glistened with the melted butter was hard as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. To say the least, I was very disappointed. My wife felt exactly the same with her meal. But it was not all bad...my wife got a slice of banana nut cake that was very good! I felt like I was robbed when I left because I spent $40 on meals that we couldn't eat. I'm sure there are people that like their food, but I can't see spending 40 bucks after I walked through a line pushing a tray to carry to my table and have food that don't even taste good. They would have to make huge improvements for me to consider going back. I really hate to say that due to the great memories I had from eating there with my...
Read moreThe food was hot and very good! The had a over flow on the line and water was in the serving line. The lad had put signs out and was working very hard to get it cleaned up. The couple in front of me started fussing because the lady got the bottom of her shoes wet and made a big scene about it. They thought they deserved a discount because her shoes got wet. When they got to the register the lady ended up giving them a meal because she had thrown such a fit over something that was so minut. When I got up there I went to pay for my two meals and the lady was so sweet she says if they get a discount she gets a discount because her shoes got wet to. I told him that that was not necessary that's what the bottom of your shoes were made for us to get wet but they insisted and gave me a discount to which I thought was very very kind of them. but every time I ever go in there they're always as sweet as...
Read moreThe one in Slidell La on Hwy 190 gives the Picadilly chain a bad name - while we have had great experiences at other locations, this one caused my husband and I to be physically ill. Thursday evening Feb.21 at 6:30 p.m. we ordered salads (which were limp and dull) , fried shrimp, (battered and raw inside) seafood plattter of crawfish etoufee and fish (unfinishable), brocolli casserole (nothing but mush) - and bread (thankfully, it was the only edible item). We did complain to the hostess and she volunteered that they were there because the rent was cheap. WE love the ones in Covington and other places in the south but this was so bad that we felt it important to let the franchise headquarters know. I hope someone in Quality Control will address their innumerable problems (the location smelled like it had recently flooded). We were travelling otherwise we would have left...
