I didn't like this place from the very beginning. When we got there the hours on the door said from noon to 9:00 p.m. . It was almost 2:57pm, I went to pull the door handle and it was locked. So the young lady from the inside came to open the door and stated they will be open in a few moments. My friend asked why were the hours posted that they should have already been open at noon. The young lady said that because of pandemic they have been opening late. So we suggested they take the hours of operation off the door because they were incorrect. That was the first issue and then the young lady told us to stand outside for a couple more moments until they open. We were not going to stand outside in 23° weather to wait for the store to open. Even on here it lists the place as opening at noon. I posted a picture of it.
We left went somewhere else and came back and they were open. So I ordered and what I received was not what I expected to have. The first picture shows what I wanted. The second picture shows what I got. I am very big on aesthetics when I go to order something that I saw on social media because I am a social a lot .
I asked the young lady why was my ice cream not in the fish mouth so I can hold it and why did she put it in a cup? I told her I wanted my treat to look like what they posted on their Instagram and I went to show her what I ordered. She said they do not make the treats like that at this particular location because it gets messy. She said what they post on Instagram is just for content and pictures. I advised her it was false advertisement because I want my treat to look like what they're advertising. Why advertise something you don't make? They post these pictures on social media and tell you to come get it and come order it but then when you get there and they don't make it look like the pictures. 🙃
Mind you this is the only location in Baton Rouge as if there is another location with her saying they don't make it like that not at "this location".
When I told the server that was not what I wanted she did not apologize, she just walked off and was looking crazy.
I initially told her I didn't want it because that's not how I wanted my treat to look but I ate it anyways because my friend paid for it and I didn't want to waste food or throw it away. Had it been my own money that I spent I would have thrown it away.
Overall the dessert was good but the experience was trash. When I come visit a place from out of town it's definitely for the experience as well as the food and the aesthetics that I've seen on social media. I will not be back here. Because, don't post something that...
Read moreI’ve been looking for a place that serves tayaki ice cream since I tried some during a trip to California. They only have four flavors at a time and they rotate very frequently so I was pretty disappointed they didn’t have green tea ice cream which I feel like is a must have for tayaki and what I came to try. They do post their flavor rotations on their Instagram I just forgot to check it and for some reason I thought those flavors were in addition to staple flavors. I ended up getting the mango bingsu since I had never tried it but I’m not complaining because it was soooo good. It just melts in your mouth and the mango was nice and soft too. My boyfriend got the tayaki ice cream since they had a flavor he actually liked although I was surprised to see they didn’t offer an option to put the ice cream inside of it. Instead they put the soft serve in a cup and put the open mouth tayaki on top of the soft serve which I thought was interesting because it meant that no soft serve got into it at all. The tayaki pockets were okay, I felt that they didn’t have exactly the texture I was looking for, they were more waffle like than the ones I tried in California. I also tried daifuku for the first time which was good as well. The shop is kind of small so it gets packed really quickly, we actually had to come back the next day because it was too busy and we were going to miss our reservations so be prepared for that but it was much better during the afternoon. The staff was friendly and gave us time to look over the menu and decide what we were going to get since they didn’t have what we were originally looking forward to. Overall I would come here again but I do wish they had maybe two basic staples in their ice cream menu and that their storefront...
Read moreMy fiance and I love the taiyaki and soft served ice cream here but recently had an experience with poor customer service which has prompted this review.
Bc the workers wear masks, there was a mix up with the name called and my fiance grabbed the wrong cup (it had the same ice cream but wrong taiyaki). An understandable mix up that I feel was nobody’s fault. Since she had already touched the taiyaki, the person who ordered it did not want it. We nicely asked the server if it would be any trouble to get the correct taiyaki. The server said “were really backed up it might take awhile.” We asked how long and she said “let me go see.”
After waiting 10 minutes I went to ask if they were making the taiyaki or if I needed to purchase another one. I was told I would have to purchase another one. I did not complain, express disappointment or question why. My fiance really wanted the custard so I waited in line to order another one.
As I am paying for the new taiyaki, the server comes to the register and states that they didn’t make a new taiyaki for us bc we had ate the one we were given. A moot point considering that I was already paying for another one. Yes, I ate the taiyaki bc my fiance didn’t want it. Were we supposed to throw it away? Give it back? Were yall really watching us and basing the decision to make us another one on whether or not we would eat the one we were given? Then the server glares at us as we are walking out. Like really???
We were regular customers but now just have a bad taste in our mouth about how this minor mix up...
