Potentially the most underwhelming food and worst service at Epcot.
It began with a visit to the kiosk Fleur de Lys for their La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush where we were greeted by the rudest cashiers in all the park. The cashiers here think it’s ok to speak bad about customers amongst themselves in French (especially the male with a fade haircut and ponytail). They must have forgotten that French isn’t the only language that derived from Latin and Spanish speakers/Latinos are able to understand the majority of what they say. The cashiers joked about customers in front of their faces, saying these were “stupid” and calling them “trash”. The cashier was thrown off guard when after paying, I stood beside him and responded to their commentary with “Je comprends que tu dire.” (Thrown together from my knowledge of basic French courses in high school and considering in Spanish it’s “Yo comprendo lo que dijiste.” which almost sounds the same.) Sadly, the drink didn’t make up for the terrible treatment at the kiosk as it tastes like a watered down Jolly Rancher slush you’d find at a college party or at a dive bar.
The experience got worse upon checking in to Chefs de France for our dinner reservation where the hostess rolled her eyes and made a face of disgust upon hearing our Spanish name the reservation was under.
Once seated, our server was inattentive and couldn’t have cared less about the customer’s experience. Due to the loudness of the restaurant and him noticeably forcing an extreme French accent, we asked if he could speak louder so we could hear and understand when he talked to us. However, this just made him begin to mumble anytime he spoke to us and whenever something was brought to the table it was aggressively tossed on it. Throughout the course of the meal, we felt rushed with the constant desire to take our plates even when we had just begun eating.
Now on to the food… Our dinner began with the French Onion Soup which tasted like bland tap water with uncooked onions (they didn’t even caramelize the onions before putting them in the stock) which was all just topped with cheese (the only good part of the soup). Luckily, the table was equipped with salt and pepper shakers which we were forced to use on every spoonful to make this dish tolerable. Needless to say I’ve had better french onion soups at Outback.
For the main courses, we went with the Filet de Saumon and Boeuf Bourguignon. The beef was composed mainly of fat and was tolerable only thanks to the sauce. The linguine it is served with (why?) was undercooked and tasteless, paired with watered down bland carrots and baby onions (at least these were cooked first unlike the onions in the soup.) The salmon filet was pale, bland and tough, paired with an overcooked mushy rice pilaf and three undercooked hard broccolini stems. With the constant rush to finish our meals and the underwhelming taste of them, we gave up after only eating half.
As we had already selected the Prixe Fix Menu, we decided to try the Creme Brulee hoping this would at least put a nice finishing touch to what had been a disappointing culinary experience. To say it was the most underwhelming creme brulee we’ve ever had is an understatement. The only thing that tasted like creme brulee about it was the hardened caramelized sugar. The custard itself lacked any vanilla flavoring and was too liquified compared the traditional texture of custard/creme brulee.
Overall, the food was bland, underwhelming and the service was completely unacceptable and subpar. If we had not been seated at a window table, we would have left way before getting halfway through dinner.
If you want a good experience with incredible food and exemplary customer service while at Epcot, we would recommend Shiki-Sai instead (almost every plate here was delicious!). And if you’re able to request Yuka as your server, you’ll have an incredible experience and memory (and not in the negative way like at...
Read moreBeen 5 times and this is our last. What started out as an amazing meal on our very first visit has declined into something 'not so' amazing. Food is overpriced; for what it was, and we are ok paying for GOOD food. Service is lacking that extra this place used to be known for. On this visit we ordered the Escargot and the Onion Soup , a bottle of wine, and a diet coke and water for the table. The wine as always was nice, though, the waitress had a 'confusing' time opening it - thinking she may be just earning her ears so we rolled with it. Escargot is solid, the soup - I could open a can of store bought and get better flavor , and 10 cans for what they charged. Soup was warm, not hot - and I think it took a lap around the restaurant before landing at our table - due to the confused nature of service here. For dinner, we ordered Steak Frites, which was overcooked, lots of grissle and flavorless.. We always used to get the Filet but that is no longer an option and sadly this is a poor excuse for 'french' steak with a high price tag - any chain restaurant likely would have the same quality. We ordered the Charcuterie , which was a favorite of ours and always the Pate' and options were fresh and unique. Often the chef prepared for us special Pate as my husband is European and misses the real stuff.. He ate less than half , which , for him is unusual since this is one of our favorite meals typically. Two of us had the seafood dish. Both were lukewarm, the scallops were still 'gritty' and the dish had nothing to go with the sauce - no bread etc.. That said, a baguette for the table was placed, but no cutting utensils for it - we are not opposed to breaking bread by hand but we tried to secure a knife but could not find a server. Highlight was wine and desert . Sad to see this special gem fall so far off the mark - from service, to value to quality it as declined significantly. In addition, the tables are super close and the ambiance is very loud and...
Read moreIt was my mom and I first time going here and honestly it was an amazing experience at this restaurant. The food was to die for honestly. Yes it is on the expensive side, but totally worth it. For an appetizer I ordered a Cassolette ďescargots de Bourgogne au beurre persillé (Escargot) it was very good. Then for an Entree I asked the waiter what he recommended and he said the Boeuf Bourguignon, linguine. ( Braised Beef in carbernet with baby onions, carrots, pasta) He told me that I should substitute the pasta for the mash potatoes to make it authentic French Cuisine and honestly it was the best Braised Beef I ever had in my life and combining it with the mash potatoes it was delicious. Like literally mouth watering good. Then for Dessert we made 2 orders one was Tarte au chocolat Valrhona, glace à la vanille (Chocolate Tart, ganache, chocolate mousse, cocoa sauce, vanilla ice cream) The order dessert was Gâteau au agrumes , crème fraise citron vert, fruits rouges tiède (Citrus cake, strawberry lime cream, warm berries compote) truthfully both were delicious not too sweet not too overpowering just rich with flavor. Definitely recommend these desserts. I did order 2 drink one was Kir Royal and the order was a French Martini. Both were so so good. Sweet and refreshing. Highly recommend those 2 drinks. Overall I would honestly recommend trying this place out. Everything was amazing and shout out to our Waiter Camille for the best service I've had the honor to experience in a while. From greeting to explaining the menu, helping understand what exactly comes in the dish, recommending some dishes that are go to you need to try this dish. He always greeted us with a smile and you could feel his positive energy radiate off of him and that you could tell he loves his job and takes it serious. 11/10 for amazing customer service...
