I can honestly say this was the worst service experience we have ever had at a sit down restaurant within the World of Disney....and one of the worst service experiences ever. There was no "Magic" to our server - he barely interacted with us. A table set for 4, he took our order and disappeared - literally. Another server came by to clear the additional place settings. Someone else brought our food and we were finished eating at least 10 minutes, quite possibly longer, and still no sign of him. No one checked to make sure our drinks were filled or that our food was satisfactory. In fact, I watched a single-patron, an older gentleman, sit for over 15 minutes without being served. Someone stopped by and said "your server will be over" but no one came. At one point, 4 servers walked by him simultaneously and no one said a word. And multiple servers walked back and forth by his table during the course of those 15 minutes. So I don't blame him for getting up, muttering under his breath, and storming out. Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was the change in barometric pressure, but I felt ill. Thus, we shared an entree - the mixed grill skewer. A skewer of steak, a skewer of chicken, green beans, and their version of potato wedges. The steak was unremarkable and with quite a bit of sinew; not the greatest quality. The chicken had a chipotle flavor sauce on it. The green beans and the potatoes wedges were exceptional. The wedges were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with just the right amount of salt and thyme for seasoning. Not quite sure what the green beans were seasoned with, but they had great flavor as well. We did ask for a side of tzaziki sauce...and our server said the meal came with it. On their menu under the Lamb Sliders a mint tzaziki is listed...not sure if this is what we were served. It wasn't white in color but green like a pesto. I think (!?) I tasted mint but I also tasted an overload of something green like spinach. After 2 weeks of spinach smoothies for breakfast, I am quite in tune with what ground spinach tastes like. But! Since we never saw our server again, I was unable to inquire about the sauce and ask for a more traditional tzaziki. My husband got a Tanqueray Tonic + our 1 entree = $50 bill. Crazy! 2 stars; the food was the saving grace from only being...
Read moreWent to Spice Road Table for dinner with my wife on the first night of our recent trip to Disney World. I debated a bit on the rating to give this restaurant - if I could, I'd give it 3.5 stars, I think.
We started out splitting the Hummus and Imported Olives appetizer. Overall, it was OK, with the star, surprisingly, being the pita bread that comes with it as a platform to pile everything else on. The bread was pretty much perfect pita, the right texture with a very good flavor. The rest - the hummus and olives were pretty much standard, about what you'd get in an average grocery store. After that, we both had the Mix Grill Skewers for an entree. The meat here is chicken and beef on skewers, which I looked forward to as I expected delicious Mediterranean/North African flavored meats. What I got was very dry so-so flavored chicken and well done uninspired beef. But, like with the appetizer, the sides came to the rescue - the potatoes that came with it were quite tasty and the green beans were truly the highlight of the entire meal - perfectly cooked and very tasty. For desert, we had the Assorted Baklava, which, while good, weren't really anything special or memorable.
The service, unlike the meal, was very good. Our waiter, a Moroccan native who moved to Pennsylvania from Morocco and then to Florida a few years ago and was excellent. His timing was perfect - always with a drink refill or checking in with us at exactly the right moment, he was friendly, and he was efficient. Truthfully, he was one of the best wait staff I've had in recent memory.
Additionally, the view from this restaurant is perfect for the nighttime fireworks - it's right on the lake and has a completely unobstructed view for the show. Get there around 7:30 - 8:00 and you can pretty much garment a window seat if inside or a lake side table if outside.
So overall, while the food is hit or miss, the service and view pretty much make up for most of that. I will say though, that if you're looking for something a little different and you don't care about the view for the fireworks, the other Moroccan restaurant here, Restaurant Marrakesh is probably a...

If we’re judging based solely on taste, Spice Road Table is the best casual sit down restaurant in all 4 parks. Unbeatable in its price range.
Spicy shrimp was probably my favorite dish. It was actually spicy and the shrimp was fresh with a great snap. The Chermoula that was part of the Naan sampler was excellent. Very complex in flavor but not overpowering in any spice in particular.
Lamb Kefta was delicious in my opinion but it was extremely gamey so not for everyone. Only 2 out of 4 of us liked it.
For those with dietary restrictions, they treated my dairy allergy very seriously. I was able to omit some ingredients so I could still get the dish I wanted. My food was brought out separately from everyone else’s. Very impressed with how they handled it.
Where it went a little sour was when we first sat down and the waiter came to introduce himself and the menu. He stated very clearly “the plates are tapas style so they’re small”.
One person in our group is a large man. He played football and wrestled in college just to give you an idea of his size.
The waiter then turns to my friend and gestures to him to say again, “I see this guy here, just telling you, the plates are small.” He said it very slowly which came off super condescending. I was shocked. My friend saw my face and gave me the look to just ignore it and not let it ruin our perfectly nice day.
Maybe the waiter thought he was looking out for us so we wouldn’t be disappointed with the portions? His tag said he was from Morocco so possibly just a cultural difference. In my parents’ culture, it’s very normal to talk about someone’s appearance good or bad to their face. Either way, it’s not appropriate in the US.
My hope for writing this review is that the waiter learns that those comments are not acceptable going forward. If he said that to someone much more sensitive, they’d be well within their rights to make a scene about it.
Overall it is a good restaurant. I would eat there again. Just needs a little more finesse on...
