Quick Service gem! Mobile ordering can be a hassle for large orders, but otherwise you should be alright. Pro-tip: Go get your seats first. Then order while you cool down in the shade. Then go pick up your order. Pro tip 2: The large cups don't have plastic lids per park policy and even the straws are made of...well let's just say they're not plastic. If you have several drinks do not try to transport everything at once, bring a companion to aid you. The liquor drinks are pricy and icy, no value there. Order all drinks without ice, especially on hot days. It'll still be cold, but you'll get what you pay for instead of 40 % ice. Pro tip 3: The ONLY food you should order here is the pulled pork, in either variation; the sandwich, or the mac n cheese. The chicken part of chicken n ribs was okay, but the ribs are mostly cartilage. Do not think for a second that these are fall off the bone baby back ribs, the ARE NOT! Same goes for the St. Louis version. The smokehouse thing is virtually no different than a hotdog, the half chicken is okay, but not great or even tasty. The staff members in the seating area only clean tables off. They do not take orders nor bring you your food. Ergo they're not very busy, so if you have questions about the park, the area, the work they do and how students there on a work program get a great place to live in and college paid for, now is your chance to learn the details. Note: Birds and squirrels will walk among you, on you and over you while seated at your table. If this frightens you, go someplace else.
If they only served the two pulled pork dishes I'd give this...
Read moreCame here one day while we were hosting from friends from out of town. We brought their little girl all around Animal Kingdom so she could be excited at all the cute and cool animals there. We had a great time. And when it was time for lunch, we weighed our options and decided to come to good ol' Flame Tree.
Standard ambiance. It's a counter service restaurant with many many chairs and tables. There are so many, I'm sure you'll never not be able to find a seat. And the service at that counter is fine. Some super friendly, some mildly grumpy people. Typical Disney mixture.
As for the food itself, I got the St. Louis Rib Dinner (St. Louis Ribs served with Beans and Coleslaw). I upgraded my side from beans to rice and beans. Ribs were good. Not too tough, and there was plenty of BBQ sauce for some helpful slathering anyway. Rice and beans were good. More flavorful than I was expecting. Target audience, I reckon. And the slaw was sad and pathetic. If you like slaw, skip this slaw so you're not insulted.
I also got to try the Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork (Baked Macaroni & Cheese topped with Smoked Pulled Pork, Crispy Onions, and Coleslaw). Really a sad amount of food, but what was there was nice. Cheesy mac, moist pork in every bite, and those onions added a wonderful texture. Really nice, but don't order this if you are actually hungry.
Overall, Disney counter service is all mediocre, we all know that. But this place was actually pretty delicious, and if you order the right thing, it's surprisingly filling. One of the better ones I've been to. I will...

This was our lunch destination shortly after arriving at the park. Using the Disney app we made our choice to go here and then we ordered our food to be picked up once the app told us it was ready. (A little piece of advise for the uninitiated - if you are going to any Disney park, get the app. With the app you can make reservations for restaurants days in advance and for quick stop places like these you can skip the line and order on-line and pick up your food skipping the long wait). We both ordered the barbecue chicken salad - a massive offering of chicken and greens and barbecue sauce that will not leave you hungry. We even picked up a few drinks (hot drinks on a cold day) that hit the spot.)
The ambiance is outdoor dining with ever present birds looking for a handout, though they were aggressive which was a good thing. Though there's ample seating it can be difficult to find a spot during the peak eating times so be aware of that. Otherwise, the service behind the counter was super friendly and agreed with me that the app is the...
