I chose Hollywood & Vine to celebrate my birthday and to enjoy some character dining on birthday weekend, and it turned out to be a great choice. The characters were dressed in their Halloween costumes, and each one came by our table not once but twice. They were so sweet and engaging, adding joy to the experience.
The buffet had a lot of variety. The standout for me personally was the mushroom risotto — rich, full of flavor. I also really enjoyed the cheesy cauliflower, sautéed garlic green beans, and peel-and-eat shrimp. The large shrimp where perfectly cleaned but shells left. I had tap water to keep hydrated and avoid excess sugary drinks (not my favorite taste, so I’d recommend another drink if you’re sensitive to that) but ended the meal with a hot cup of chamomile tea. Our server, Crystal, brought two tea bags, honey, and fresh lemon without having to ask; all was appreciated and more than adequate. It was a thoughtful touch, though I noticed they didn’t provide a stirrer.
Dessert isn’t usually my thing, but I tried the strawberry tres leche cake since a fresh batch had just come out. I was the first to scoop a small sliver, and the strawberry sprinkled topping gave it a fun flavor and texture. The soft serve, on the other hand, was icy rather than creamy, so I couldn’t enjoy and discarded.
Service overall was very good. Crystal was kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The only real disappointment was that when we were seated, the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything. She noted my birthday on the ticket, but it was never mentioned again — not even a small “happy birthday.” A little acknowledgment would have been nice especially considering this was the reason for the splurge, but it didn’t ruin the experience - just would have been the icing on the cake to top off the birthday dinner experience.
Total cost for two people, including a 20% tip, was $145.97. Eeek — definitely on the pricey side — but since it was a birthday meal and a special experience, I was okay with it.
All in all, I was very satisfied. The character interactions were wonderful, the food had some standout dishes, and the service and overall vibe was pleasant. Not a foodie destination, but perfect for a fun, memorable...
Read moreWe were at Hollywood and Vine on Monday, December 29th. I wanted to love it and be able to leave a 5 star rating, but unfortunately our experience wasn't the best. We had reservations that for 4 adults- one with a scooter and one child. I had made the reservation months in advance for the character lunch and we were looking forward to it. We arrived and were sat relatively quickly. Half of our party got up for food and a young woman manager came over and said to my husband (who has a physical disability and was using the scooter instead of his wheelchair that day for ease in the park) "we need to love you, you are a safety hazard" . Our 8year old was extremely upset but the comment, as was my husband. I was not at the table at the time, but when I returned they were both waiting near the table. My husband was told to wait to be moved. We waited and waited, our whole party came back with food and we all stood there waiting. Eventually I walked over to a group of staff and asked what was going on. Finally they told us just to stay there but they made my husband move his spot which made my daughter have to move and she was not facing the wall instead of the restaurant. It was a character meal- the whole point is for her to see the characters. The waitress was sweet and apologized but it wasn't her fault. At no point did a supervisor or manager come over and apologize, or make sure we were OK after the incident. If you aren't equipped to provide service to guests with a disability then don't accept the reservation. This is 2025- you'd think this wouldn't even be an issue. Everyone should be equipped- especially a place like Disney. And as for the manager who was most definitely rude and disrespectful- shame on you! And shame on you for not coming to offer an apology for your behavior. I will not return to this restaurant and I will not recommend it to friends. In fact I will tell all of them this story. We spent over $400 only to leave with a...
Read moreI've dined at this restaurant many times before and have always had excellent to exceptional experiences. Tonight, unfortunately, we did not. Patrick was our server and we came in to celebrate our son's birthday. Upon greeting us, we felt very rushed by our server. They didn't ask if we had allergies, if we had celebrations, or even if we'd dined there before. They rattled off the included drink selection and asked for drink orders. I had barely sat and hadn't even looked at the cocktail menu yet. I ordered a water and let them know I'd order a bar drink in a moment. We had to flag them down halfway through the meal to get my drink order in, before I could even tell them that my husband wanted to order a drink, they were gone. My husband had to flag Patrick down again just to order his drink. I don't know if we were pre-judged or what happened but out of my 10 years of being a passholder and 4 years recently serving in Disney Springs, that was the worst experience I've ever encountered and paid 457 dollars for. I have also never left a servers tip at 18% because it goes against server code. Our daughter never got a refill on her soda, they just took her glass and never brought a new one. They barely showed up and when they did, they were there for a moment and completely uninterested in even offering minimal service. Everything else was great, food, characters and hosts but the server did not like us. I just hope this finds the manager and the server can be retrained on judging a large family. We didn't leave a mess, stayed for 45 minutes-1hr, and we were extremely kind. I've never felt so dismissed going into a dining experience where someone knows someone is spending good money, especially...
