Iâll start by saying our overall âDisneyâ experience has been great. This is an exception. While the ride is one of the best, the staff managing the lightning lane is not.
My 4 daughters used their own bands/devices to scan into slinky dog dash. We had 2 of their friends with us who happen to be Black. My wife and I scanned our phones to give them access to the ride in our place using Genie and Standby Skipper (which oh bye the way the tickets are now the ante for admissionâŚ.by the time you pay for virtual, genie and skipper, itâs easy another $35-$50/day/person)
This ride however is unique and apparently requires a second scan. The girls didnât have our phones and were told to leave the ride which embarrassed them and left them unsure of where to go, how to find us or how to handle the situation as 13 and 15 year old girls. And they were with 4 other girls of similar age that vouched for them.
My daughter called and we found them but then had to give them our cell phones vs the staff just walking them through. This left us without a way to communicate with our 9 and 12 year old daughters or any of our kids and their friends.
I understand there need to be rules; but, the goal I would think is for people to have fun. The bias should be on trust and experience especially if they already scanned access once. The answer from an adult to shame and remove a child was wrong just based on the binary option of (a) get beat and let them on the ride if they perhaps snuck in (which they hadnât) or (b) allow them through due to high likelihood they were eligible to ride. Itâs bad decision making and likely a cast member that should be removed...
Read moreI'll start by saying that this one felt a little more intense than Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Maybe it was because we were in the last car (at the slinky dog tail). I was also seated on the left looking downward on those inside turns. If you're afraid of heights, then this one may not be for you. Otherwise, request to be seated in a middle car on the right side.
I actually loved it! Some of those climbs were more steep than I thought it would be. It goes faster over the top than Expedition Everest (IMO). I was screaming like a little girl. I can totally see why it's a popular first choice when it comes to rope drop strategy. Although, the line seems to be longer at other times during the day due to inefficiency (kind of like Peter Pan's Flight). I did read that somewhere. We waited longer simply because the ride was having technical difficulties on a cold Wednesday morning. The cool part was that the line went pretty fast once it officially opened.
It was a fun ride! I'd do it again. It was also cool to see the Yahtzee mural. My dad and I used to play that game all the time. It was one of our favorites. The toy soldiers were kind of cool to...
Read moreSlinky Dog Dash is the perfect mix of family fun and playful thrills! Set in the heart of Toy Story Land, this coaster makes you feel like youâve been shrunk down to the size of a toy and are racing through Andyâs backyard on the back of Slinky himself. The theming is spot-onâeverything from the colorful track pieces to the oversized toys and games scattered around the area adds to the charm.
The ride itself is super smooth and surprisingly exciting. Itâs not an intense coaster, but it has just the right amount of speed, dips, and twists to make it a blast for both kids and adults. The launch halfway through gives it a fun burst of energy, and the views of Toy Story Land from the top are awesome, especially at night when everythingâs lit up.
Itâs a true crowd-pleaser and definitely one of the highlights of Hollywood Studios. The wait times can get long, but itâs absolutely worth itâor even better, try for a Lightning Lane if you can.
Slinky Dog Dash captures the spirit of Disney perfectlyâfun, imaginative, and great for all ages. Itâs one of those rides youâll want to hop on...
