I was VERY excited to go to Narcoosee's. I have been to Disney World and have stayed at the Grand Floridian a few times but never tried this restaurant because I am not a seafood fan. The menu has now expanded where there were food options I could enjoy along with my seafood eating friends and family and I couldn't wait to go. At first we couldn't get a reservation and then the day before our last day a reservation opened for our final night and my friend and I were ecstatic. Unfortunately it was hit and miss, with very little hit and a lot of miss.
The good: It is a gorgeous restaurant with amazing views. Spending our last night there watching the monorails pass by Cinderella's Castle and Space Mountain was just amazing. The Caesar salad I had was quite possibly my favorite one I have ever had; it was light and refreshing and delicious. My friend had the Maine Lobster Bisque and raved about it.
The okay: My sweet potato gnocchi entree was fine. Nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. It's a seafood restaurant so I understand but I do wish the dish had been tastier to justify the price.
The bad: My friend ordered the surf and turf and upgraded the steak to a medium rare filet mignon. She ate the lobster tail and loved it but when she got to her steak she realized that it was well done to the point of being burnt and not a filet cut at all. At this point we were tired and almost done with the meal and still had to pack so we informed the waiter and just asked that her meal be changed to just a lobster tail. The waiter then charged her $49 for a lobster tail instead of the $54 for the surf and turf which was honestly ridiculous. The waiter was elderly and it's a hard time for everyone so we just paid and left. I did speak to Disney and they refunded us which was very kind and I appreciate it a lot. Since then I have heard from several people who had a very similar, if not exactly same, experience.
I wanted to love it here but I don't think I'll be going back. If you are going just for seafood though I think you'll have a much...
Read moreThey had some new and interesting options since I've been here a few years ago, but I do think they lost some of their better options as well.
We got the cold seafood tower appetizer and in some ways it was excellent, but I think there were some simple misses here too. The shrimp were probably the biggest shrimp I've had in my life, I mean just ridiculously big. The crab was great, but for $140 there is no reason that there wasn't more. The mussels, while good, aren't really traditional chilled seafood fair nor was the tuna poke, which was also good, but just an odd choice. Raw oysters and more crab would have been a much better choice.
We also got the ocean inspired charcuterie board, which was very creative and interesting. Everything tasted as it was advertised and it was really fun. The tuna pastrami could use a little work in it's presentation, but everything was pretty good.
I got the surf and turf and this was more of the miss in my opinion. A recall a lobster entree that was a large lobster with popcorn butter, but this was a tiny lobster tail that while just fine, and I was full anyway from the ridiculous appetizers, but it wasn't impressive. The steak was good, but I can't say it stood out either, nor would I really expect it to as I associate narcosee's with seafood, but there was no big shellfish entree to impress. This is a seafood restaurant... I expect several shellfish options that are not wee bits. There's two land mammals as entrees, one vegetarian option, two cooked fish (yaaaawn), a pasta dish with shrimp, a pasta dish with scallop, and the surf and turf. The entrees section of the menu needs redone as a seafood restaurant, not to make everyone just satisfied there was something mediocre for them.
The drinks were quite good. I had three of them and they were all very good and were real cocktails. I would have loved to have tried more.
The wait staff were...
Read moreCame here with my beautiful wife on our honeymoon 😊 My now brother-in-law and I found this place while we were walking around on a trip here earlier in the year, and it piqued my interest. I remembered it while we were planning our honeymoon, and I'm glad we did!
The interior is pretty and elegant, and the lighting is good, not too bright or dim. The service was absolutely spectacular! Our waitress was super excited that we just got married and gave us free champagne with our dessert for the occasion 😁
We started off splitting a key lime martini. That was refreshing and delicious! And it's shaped like a Mickey which is adorable! Our appetizer was the seafood charcuterie. I used the alligator cheesecake strategy before we decided to get this (IYKYK). I'll rank it in order from best to worst: Lobster sausage, ahi tuna pastrami and octopus capicola. The lobster sausage was where it's at! It was amazing, and something I've literally never heard of!
Our entree was the blackened Redfish, which we split with a side of the loaded mashed potatoes. The fish was fantastic, you could tell it was very fresh and it had excellent flavor, well seasoned and cooked just right! The succotash it was atop was an awesome touch! The loaded mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, and the pork belly in them was so good!
And lastly, dessert. As mentioned earlier we got free champagne and.... Chocolate!!! We got some chocolate WITH a card with our last name on it! That's incredible, I've never seen a restaurant do that before for a special occasion!!! It was good chocolate too! Our main dessert was Pavlova, as seen on Bluey! It wasn't what we were expecting, but in a good way! We were expecting like an Australian version of tres leches cake, but it's actually a meringue dessert! It was delicious too!
This was an absolutely amazing and memorable dinner! Thank you Disney for...
