Love the atmosphere! Line was too long for Flight of Passage, so we ate lunch early right next door. Good thing we did because tables were filling up fast. If you want a place to sit arrive here by 12 noon. 1 pm is the peak. During the "cooler" weather people are choosing to sit outside, so those tables went fast. We stood in line to order. It was pretty efficient. We ordered beef/chicken bowl, chicken bowl, and shrimp bowls, all with noodles. You get the most meat with the beef/ chicken combo bowl of all of the other ones for only 1 or $2 more, so that was the favorite. Shrimp very tasty, done well, but only 4 on my plate. Green sauce on the side. Hold the slaw for my son. Had both the chocolate mouse and blueberry mouse desserts. 2 diet cokes and 1 sunrise fruit drink. I would recommend allof the above but the fruit drink as it tasted like pineapple juice. Noodles and meat were fresh and tasty. The desserts were beautiful and sweet but may only get 1 to share next time. A worker told us the desserts are mostly gelatin with flavoring, so not really "blueberry cheesecake with passionfruit filling" as described. Our total bill was $80ish, but remove 1 or 2 desserts and my pineapple juice drink, and it would be in the mid $60s. The cheeseburger pod meals with vegetable chips more affordable, but we preferred the bowls. We loved the Pandora artistry on the ceilings, and the big space to sit inside. The cast members clearing the empty dishes were friendly and efficient. Although menu is somewhat limited we would eat here again. Food quality and spacious seating stand out against other fast service restaurants. Definitely recommend! Try to get there by 11 30 to 11 45 for lunch as it only gets busier, and you want a table to enjoy the food...
Read moreThis is a departure from traditional theme park food, and we enjoy that. While you will pay Disney park prices for premium food here, we think it is worth it. The create your own bowls are a great way to customize your order and add different things. These are large portions. They also offer cheeseburger bao pods that are quite tasty. First, place your mobile order while you are waiting in line for flight of passage or navi river journey. Then, go to Pongu Pongu right outside to get your night blossom as a drink (yum!), then pick up your mobile order right inside the canteen. There is indoor and outdoor seating. All cast members that I have encountered here are very friendly and helpful. The mobile order is a great way to skip the line, as you can also stand in a traditional line to order, but will take longer. Overall this place has great unique food as compared to anywhere else on Disney property or theme parks. I recommend you give it a try!
We have visited here before and knew we had to return because it is so good and unique! You may have to mobile order to even be let in to find a seat or to pick up your order. The cast members out front are very helpful in their directions about mobile order if needed. We ordered two different create your own bowls and the cheeseburger pods. Also, go next door to pongu pongu to get the night blossom and bring it over as your drink. The amount of unique options here, especially with being able to create your own bowl is refreshing. We have only had great portions and high quality dishes here. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Just know the condiment and drink stations are inside if you are...
Read moreCheeseburger Steamed Pods- Bao Buns: Satu'li Canteen is located in the Pandora section of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The canteen is themed to resemble a Resources Development Administration (the bad guys) mess hall, now a peaceful dining facility adorned with Na’vi art and cultural items after the events of the original film. What lured me to this restaurant (besides enjoying the movies) was the unique menu offerings, specifically the Bao Buns. I've never had a Bao Bun, and this seemed like a safe and ideal time to try them as this variety is meant to mimic a cheeseburger. An order includes two pods stuffed with plenty of ground beef along with ketchup, mustard, pickle, and cheddar cheese. There was just enough condiments and cheese to add to the flavor, but not easily visible to the eye and I personally could have used more cheese. The white dough was soft and sweet. This isn't meant as a negative, but if I ate this blindfolded, other than the Bao Bun texture, the flavor reminded me a lot of the countless McDonald's cheeseburgers I consumed as a kid. The vegetable chips were colorful and included a dusting of BBQ seasoning for flavor. As far as I could tell they seemed fresh and had a nice crunch to them. I'm not really into coleslaw, but I tried the vegetable slaw and that was also pretty good. The star of the slaw was the small number of berries, which had an intensely sweet and candy-like flavor. I can't tell you how to say it in Na'vi, but the Cheeseburger Steamed Pods- Bao Buns from Satu'li Canteen are Doughboy...
