We had heard of the Top of the World Lounge and wanted to give it a shot. We decided to splurge for the Wicked Wind Down and it was a great choice, when we finally got there. Luckily, we built in extra travel time because it was a mad house. Backup at the monorail from the Polynesian, which led to a huge backup waiting for the elevator to go to the lobby - because you need to go to the North elevator to check in and be scanned up to the 16th floor. We took the stairs down (much quicker) only to find that 1 of the 3 elevators was running. Once we finally made it to the lounge, things improved immediately. They were able to accommodate our larger than standard party and gave us great seats together by one of the windows. Our waitress was awesome and explained all of our options for food and drinks. She even brought our drinks out to the terrace while the fireworks were going. The food was fantastic. We had the charcuterie board, the pork belly sliders, the shrimp and the hummus and all were very good. Two of the kids with us had the pretzel which was also good and I really enjoyed the spicy mustard that came with it when I stole a piece. The capper for the night was the 7 layer cake. OMG, it was delicious and I could eat it every day. Overall, a super fun and tasty experience that I would be glad...
Read moreWe came up to check it out as we have not been here before. Beginning of July and on a Saturday night. Also our first time a Bay Lake - our home resort is OKW) We opted for drinks to go, as we had dinner reservations already. I got the Cursed Pirate. It was extremely sweet, but good. I decided to get mine on the rocks vs martini style. It helped keep it cool and cut a bit of the sweetness down. Would definitely get it again. The views were awesome! The back overlooks the courtyard and pool, as well as Bay Lake and you can see Discovery Island. The front had a great view of the park, as well as some of the resorts around the lagoon. I bet the fireworks are great up there. They had an outside bar that never had a long wait, also nice the bartender remembered our drink order as we came and got drinks to go after dinner. Service was top notch! The kids were too short to look over the ledge outside, but I would consider this place as an adult environment.
Seating is very limited, definitely get a reservation. The bar is first come first serve, but you can be added to the wait list for those as well.
The vibe was lacking. The Villians Lair consisted of some villain pictures and the resemblance of a slide show on the TV.
Would love to come back here for food, drinks...
Read moreAlmost a 5 star if it had a few improvements! I attended the Wicked Wine Down with friends. They are DVC members, which is required for entrance. The WWD cost included 1 drink, 1 appetizer and 1 dessert per person, as well as a private viewing area on the balcony to watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. The view was spectacular! The music being played at MK during the fireworks show is played here as well, which makes this an excellent viewing location. There are equally good views in the "non private" areas of the balcony that don't require you to purchase the WWD. The drinks here are very good, true bartending craftsmanship. As a group we had the hummus, pretzel, charcuterie and a plant based flatbread pizza. All of the food was great, with the exception of the very small/lackluster charcuterie board. Lots of very hard crackers, very minimal amount of meat or cheese. There is only 1 dessert on the menu, The Seven Lair cake, and it is very good. It is a huge portion. We all shared 1 slice and boxed the others up to go. The atmosphere is good... but could be excellent. This place is billed as the Villians lair, but the theme decor is VERY weak by...
