Read moreAs Vaas Montenegro famously once said "the definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." Well then call me crazy because I keep ordering the Ouzi Lamb from Alkofeia expecting to get tired of it, and yet, every time I get the same result. The same mouth watering, guttural bliss that makes the person at the table across from you look at you weird. I'm sorry Ma'am, that's the noise it makes! I feel like animal fat shouldn't taste this good, like if you really think about it. But no matter what I do (and thinking is not one of those) I keep coming back and it tastes just as good. I swear to you there is other good food at this restaurant, I've just never had it because the Ouzi Lamb is designed for two and a half people and I keep smacking my family members who try to eat some. Um no thank you, they put it next to me, this is my dish. Due to a medical condition my doctor doesn't recommend I travel south, I'm allergic you see. Anytime I go more then a mile south of my house. Hives, my throat closes up, it's a hot a mess I tell you. But damn it if i don't travel an entire town south of me just to get some of Alkofeia's tasty tasty Ouzi Lamb. I may die one day, but as the great Albert Einstein once said "What's the point of living if you can't have that good good Ouzi Lamb from Alkofeia." The Mint Lemonade...
Read moreI was thrilled when Alkofeia opened in Bayonne! For a long time, there were no Middle Eastern restaurants in the area that I truly enjoyed, and I used to drive all the way to Paterson to get authentic Palestinian food. Now, Alkofeia is just a few blocks from my home, making it incredibly convenient—whether I want to walk, drive, or have it delivered.
The food is absolutely delicious, with generous portions that never disappoint. One tip: if you’re ordering dishes that take more time to prepare, like the Maklouba (which takes about 40-45 minutes), be sure to call ahead. I usually place my order on my way home from work so it’s ready by the time I arrive. For quicker options, their shawarma, pita bread stuffed with meat, and appetizers are usually ready in 15-20 minutes (My favorate is the Msakhan Rolls). Just plan accordingly if you’re in a rush!
The staff is friendly, and the owners are incredibly kind and welcoming. Every visit feels like a warm experience, and the food is consistently satisfying. I highly recommend Alkofeia to anyone craving authentic, flavorful Middle Eastern cuisine. It’s a gem in Bayonne, and I’m so...
