There are places you stumble upon in life that make you question everything you thought you knew about something as simple as a croissant. Double Batch Bakery in Bayonne, New Jersey, is one of those places—a revelation tucked away in a no-frills corner of the world where the smell of butter and ambition collide. Founded by a husband-and-wife duo who left corporate America to pursue a baking dream, this place doesn’t just make pastries; it crafts devotion in dough form.
The croissant here is the pinnacle of human achievement—flaky layers that shatter delicately, releasing a buttery aroma that seduces your soul before the first bite. The scones? Worth writing bad poetry about. As someone who used to vet vendors for Paris Baguette and Le Pain Quotidien, I’ve eaten croissants from Paris to Hanoi, and let me tell you, this unassuming bakery is the Mecca for pastry enthusiasts.
What makes it special isn’t just the product but the artistry. Each pastry feels personal, like a love letter to flour and butter. The owners insist on small-batch precision, using top-tier ingredients and methods honed through endless trials. It’s humbling to think that a tiny bakery in Bayonne is putting global patisseries to shame.
If you consider yourself a seeker of the divine in the culinary arts, you owe it to yourself to make the pilgrimage to Double Batch Bakery. Skip the Eiffel Tower, forget the overpriced cafés—real enlightenment lives here, in the quiet folds of a croissant and the unapologetic indulgence of the best scone...
Read moreYa'll... when I say that I order from Double Batch weekly, I am so serious. I am so happy to have such a great bakery in town. My sister and I discovered them Everything, I mean EVERYTHING on their menu is delicious and you can tell it's made with love!
Double Batch operates as an online bakery where the menu is online and you order straight from their website for pick up, local delivery or curbside pick up. You earn points on each order to eventually receive money off future orders.
What makes them special is how personable the DB team is. They know their customers and they know what they're doing when it comes to baking. Each night they release a new menu and my family knows, order asap or it's gone and it may not come back for a couple days/weeks. If I had to choose my top 5 favorite menu items it would be their ginger mint lemonade, milk chocolate chip cookies, carrot cake cupcakes, strawberry shortcake and cold brew with brown sugar syrup. I really try it all, haha!
Most of their daily menu items can be ready within 5 minutes which is perfect when you need to bring something last minute. If you need custom cakes, cookies, cupcakes, etc. they offer that as well. The menu displays photos which is super helpful when making a decision. They're also very active on Instagram where they post almost daily so you can see what they're offering before going to the website. 1000% suggest giving Double...

I am obsessed with checking the menu every week, and seeing which soup, individual desserts and scones will satiate me. I always choose chocolate and dark chocolate sweets; and those that are hard to find. The menu changes weekly, with some regulars. I am not a huge fan of the brownies, but oh my God, there is so much deliciousness in this bakery. This is my favorite bakery hands down in NJ. It's curbside so no ambiance. It's just your tastebuds and food.
My top few favorites (I went back to my online recipes and checked): Passion Fruit Meringue Cake (By the Slice) Chocolate mousse cups Chocolate Chip Ricotta Cake Mini Vanilla Buttermilk Chocolate Fudge Cake Mudslide cookies Flourless Chocolate Truffle Cake Anything dark choc or chocolate cut with tartness. The buttercream on their cupcakes and cakes are SO GOOD My fav cupcakes so far: anything chocolate or lemon flavored
Hungarian Mushroom soup Other soups I can't remember at the moment I like the rustic bread that comes with the soup. Not sure if it's rustic but I am calling it that. Mini Spicy Olive & Banana Pepper Scone Gâteau Marjolaine
There was only one time I did not like something. I called them up and told them why; I was refunded.
This is my ultimate fav place in North Jersey. Remember: delivery, pickup or curbside- You can't go...
