Chapala Jalisco Taqueria — Restaurant in Baytown

I want to start by saying the restaurant itself is nice and clean, with a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of seating available. However, unfortunately, that was the extent of the positives in my experience.

My party and I were eager to try a new place to eat and decided to stop by after seeing the restaurant open as we passed by. Despite the restaurant being busy, there were several open tables, yet we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Once seated, we placed our drink orders, but I noticed that the employee taking our order appeared upset or bothered, which was a bit concerning.

After a 20-minute wait, our drinks and chips with salsa were finally brought to us. We also ordered queso dip and our main breakfast dishes. Another 20 minutes passed before the queso arrived, which only happened after we reminded the staff. We then waited an additional 25 minutes for our main orders, but no progress seemed to be made on them. At this point, we decided to leave, as it was clear our food would not be arriving anytime soon.

When I approached the register to pay for our drinks, chips, and queso, I was met with a rude question from the clerk, who turned out to be the manager. She asked if we were leaving because there was something wrong with the queso, like a hair in it. I explained that we had been waiting for quite some time and were unsure if our food was going to be prepared at all. The manager’s response left much to be desired in terms of professionalism.

While the food may have positive reviews, the service and management need significant improvement. I’m not typically one to leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to share it. I hope the management will take this feedback seriously and work on improving both customer service and staff attitudes. While I may consider visiting again in the future, my expectations for service are now quite low.

Out 1st time here. I took my mom, for some menudo. It wasn't packed, they told us to sit ourselves. Which was fine, but didn't get any service for 15 minutes. Other people came in after us and got service. We ordered the menudo and just chicken tacos. So tacos came out plain no lettuce, tomatoes. Menudo was watery and no favor. So we decided to just leave. Per the rude so called manager she couldn't take off the menudo price, since all her tickets previously were menudo other people bought. The place is nice and the food (personally) was good. But the manager is rude. When I specifically asked for the "combination" on the lunch side and even pointed to it, she gave me a breakfast plate. When I let her know, she said "It's no problem but I know you said ham and eggs" (the breakfast section). My mom even told her that I said the combination. The manager even lied about the tortillas being homemade. My mom was letting her know that they are not homemade, and the manager literally said "ask them" (some random table if it's homemade and even told my mom (A CUSTOMER) to go to the back and see.
