This is only the 2nd or 3rd time I've eaten at this location at night in the 4+ years I've been patronizing this particular store. The company I work for is headquartered in Baytown and, though I drive all over the Houston Metro area for my work, my days begin and end in the Baytown area, and, many of my meals are taken there as well.
Having said that, I'll say that, from my 3-4 times evening experiences at this location, I'd have to conclude that all the smart people go home after 5-6pm. I ordered my food online for curbside "delivery." I had parked in one of the numbered spaces set aside specifically for such delivery, and had communicated the space number to the restaurant from within the app. I had ordered a complete"Whata-meal" with the addition of a small chocolate malt as one of my free rewards I had recently accrued. There was a man parked next to me, and I saw one of the employees deliver a large bag of food to the this man. Several minutes later, well within the time period in which my order should have been forthcoming, I saw the same employee deliver yet another large bag of food to the same man. After the employee went back inside, I noticed the man looking inside the bag, appear to rummage around within, then he excited his vehicle and went inside. I saw him approach an employee at the counter, then motion toward the most recent bag he'd been given as he continued conversing (that's right, though it is a "real" word, "conversate" is a back-formed and non-standard one, best left out of any written prose, and, in my opinion, ill-suited, even, for spoken conversation amongst literate persons) with the several employees that had gathered round. The employee had delivered my mean to the man accidentally. Under normal conditions, the employee, as per Whataburger policy, would take all of the food which had been misdelivered, throw it away, then had my meal freshly prepared again, then delivered to me, minus having had a stranger's hands and exhalations molest the food within. Instead, I watched the employees rebag said food, then bring it directly to me, with my no-charge small chocolate malt reward. The employee thanked me for my patience, as he walked away from my vehicle with the vibe that he was through with me. Undelivered and, apparently, forgotten, was the medium Coke-easy ice that was parTy of my order. I got the employee's Warrenton before he re-entered the store, and advised him I also had a Coke coming to me. After he delivered it and I began to drive through the lot for the exit, I again thought of how, though the number be few, every time I've visited this location at night, something has always been amiss...
Read moreI work only about 2 minutes from this location but if I want whataburger for lunch I will drive the extra ten minutes to i-10 from now on. They have the absolute WORST drive through system that I've ever seen. If you show up, whatever you do, DO NOT order from the second drive through lane. Do not be fooled into thinking it will be faster because there are no cars ordering in that lane... the others are just much wiser. Although sometimes you'll still be asked to move to Lane 2 after ordering, even if you order in Lane 1, which happened to me once as well..... If you do get so unlucky as to wind up in the 2nd lane, five cars who got into lane 1 (which is also moving at an iceberg pace) after you got in line are going to pay at the window and get their food before anyone even comes to take your payment. Lane 2 uses a runner to come take your payment and then go back inside and get your food.... it doesn't seem like it would take THAT long and yet somehow it still does. The folks working there are relatively friendly, and I've never had an issue with the food, but be prepared to spend 30+ minutes in the drive-thru if you go. I gave this location plenty of chances to get their stuff together and get a system going that works but they still have not.... maybe an unfavorable review will do something to help. Whataburger itself is great, but do yourself a favor - skip...
Read moreI've had a rude experience with a cashier at this Whataburger. There were three main instances that contributed to that. The first instance was when I asked for clarification about seeing the sign on the window saying Whataburger served breakfast menu items from 11 PM-11 AM. I asked this because I don't go to Whataburger often, and I simply just wanted to make sure. I just said, "Hey, I saw the sign outside the window saying you serve breakfast at 11 PM. Is that right?" After blankly staring at me for a few moments, my cashier rudely yelled out, "You seriously asking me about something on the window?" right in front of everyone. I said, "Yeah, I just wanted to make sure." After that, he just walked away without even answering my question. The second instance was when I asked a question about something on the menu, and he just nodded with a very negative face and body language. He was like this the entire time I interacted with him. The third instance was when my receipt was printed out; it was not handed to me but rather tossed in my direction as I extended my hand out for it. Nothing about all this felt right to me; it felt uncomfortable, disrespectful, and insulting. I hope no one gets to experience things like this here...
