So excited to try a place that's just a 3 minute drive from home. I was wrong. It was a $34 mistake for 2 stuffed potatoes and 2 dried up ribs.
Since I was in highschool, and we had open campus for lunch (1988-1989), they were located in the building that I believe the hair place on Baker Rd is now, we used to eat there daily and I have ALWAYS LOVED this place. Yes, I know different owners, and different location, but the food and customer service is beyond reproach. They are consistent and wonderful, and they take their absolute kindness and generosity to the city of Baytown has been a long running statement of their commitment to our community. I cannot think of a better place for BBQ, family meals, take out (Lee College uses them EXCLUSIVELY for their in-house large group parties for classes and training) which also says a lot about their quality, consistency, and overall wonderfully smoke ringed briskets. Read moreI had saved this location as a place I wanted to try. It had the highest Google star rating in the area at 4.2 and the reviews looked good. I drove 9 miles out of my way to try it out. Sadly I was not impressed. The the sandwich was a little less expensive than most BBQ places at $7.75 for sliced beef but the total for a drink, fries, sandwich and beans was still about $18, like most places. Based on reviews I was hoping the BBQ would be worth the trip but unfortunately, I found the brisket to be dry and it lacked flavor. I asked for more BBQ sauce hoping it would help but it was very watered down and bland.
