I always read a lot of reviews before writing my own, and I read some interesting comments that definitely mimic my own thoughts,. FIRST, and most important, the Google star system is annoying, as .. maybe it's a 3 and 1/2. Maybe a 4 and 1/2. There should be ten stars; that would make it easier to be more accurate. For here, I don't care about the stars, so I put four, but the comments I have are more important. The place is adorable. I have no idea why some past reviewers felt the wait staff was rude. They were fab. Maybe THEY were rude and the servers reacted as such. Either way, Ari was terrific; there were 6 of us and he made sure to be very attentive. I wish I knew the name of the neat-o waitress the next day (yes, we went 2 days in a row!) If she's reading this... we are the ones who told you we are all best friends, but we don't like each other!! We got a lot of food. I could not finish mine, even though I wanted to. There was just so much! Past comments about the food being bland? Well, yes, sort of, for some things. But the cinnamon butter is amazing and should be used accordingly, and maybe the salt and pepper, too. Frankly, I would rather add my own extra flavors than be served food which is too heavy on "added" ingredients. The eggs really needed salt and pepper, so I put it on! Some dishes were a bit pricy, but there ARE a lot of sides with most things we saw on the menu. It would be nice if, instead of writing "no substitutions" on any of the meals, you could feature choices.... a Marc Pigall omelet with ham, onion, green pepper and cheddar OR the same, but tomatoes instead of peppers, as an example. Green peppers tend to disagree with lots of people, and my friend wound up with the same omelet but from the build - your - own - area, and a substitute for the peppers, but then she had to pay more money! We do like the restaurant and Tom, the owner, is super nice (we had a chat, about Paris!) so, yes, very much recommended. And, next time, I want the piggy to sit...
Read moreFirst, only complaint was the server straight up forgot one of the dishes we ordered.
That being said, we were sat down immediately upon arrival. The space was clean and suitable for any breakfast food fan. The menu was good enough, plenty of choices.
I ordered the Eggs Benedict, fantastic, probably best I've had on LBI. The home fries definitely needed peppers and onions. Not a fan of just potatoes for breakfast, I'd order French fries if I was. Despite this, they were fine with hot sauce.
Wife ordered Florentine Croissant. Made near perfect, according to her, it certainly looked perfect.
The only disappointment was that after the waitress realized she messed up part of the order, she didn't simply offer us coffee, or any beverage, on the house, something very cheap and easy to ensure customer satisfaction. This restaurant was very busy despite it being very early, so her offering to have the kitchen make something would take too long. However, the gesture was still appreciated.
We will return to this spot next time...
Read moreI first discovered Uncle Wills in 9/2009 . I was a recent widow then and i stayed on the island shortly after for a short R&R and Uncle Wills was the place i went to more than several times for it reminded me of living back home in NE Penna . The people who came in were very different mostly from New Jersey and we got to talking and it felt so cozy , i frequented many a time. I dont like the fact that no checks or credit cards are not taken in an age of safety and security in caring so much cash ,especially for traveling " solo' .Just recently i found in cleaning up my office. a gift card I bought in 2010 expired in 2011. and its now 2016 and without a receipt from a credit card. whats the chances i can get it rewritten for my coming up trip in August 2016? I d like to see more gluten free and dairy free items on the menu in this healthy day and age we live in and organic coffee available for those of us who eat and drink...
