Honey Bay's BBQ — Restaurant in Beach Park

the food is HORRIBLE....i went there for the first time and ordered a 2 meat combo...which was ribs, chicken and i also ordered a pork chop sandwich. I personally feel for the amount i paid and the amount i received was not equivalent. i got a small ribs and 2 pieces of chicken a leg and thigh..which were very small portions however....it was just nasty...i felt i wasted 23.00 on something i had to throw away. The cashier did not seem like she could add and had no interest in helping me order and forgot to give me back my credit card i had to reach on the counter and get it back after she walked away. besides all that the food was not good....the sauce tastes like HIllarys bbq...which is also AWFUL...I can say the owner lady is nice and did take her time with my order but they could really use a chef that can help them change that god awful taste on the bbq...i would never go there again...it would be helpful if they stop being upset with Chicago bbq and collaborate with some famous bbq store there to know what really sauce should taste like here are a few suggestions...COLEMANS BBQ, JOES'S BBQ, LEON BBQ, SMOTHERS BBQ, UNCLE REMUS, ...i really wish there was a great bbq place here in waukegan but there is not ....they are...

I decided to check out their new location after having nothing but great experiences with Honey Bay’s at their old Belvidere location in Waukegan, and I am glad that I did! I called in my order ahead of time and the lady on the phone was incredibly friendly. When I came in to pick up my order I was greeted by name when I walked through the door.

My food was delicious! I ordered the rib tip dinner with an additional hot link and everything was tasty. The hot link had a wonderful seasoning and snap to the sausage casing and made a great little sandwich with the white bread and coleslaw that came with my dinner. The rub tips themselves are definitely my favorite in the area. They had a great smoke flavor, perfect texture and had a ton of nice meaty pieces. The mild sauce was phenomenal as well, but if I had to nitpick ever so slightly I would’ve wanted just a tad more sauce.

If you’re in the mood for some fantastic food and would like to support some genuine and nice people who are passionate about their work, definitely give Honey Bay’s a visit! And save room for dessert. The banana cream pudding...

1St time walk in the door and lady said menu on the door . Looking for ribs but the menu is smeared. She says we have brisket w 2 sides 18. Something.. or $17. Pound . In a hurry to make appointment Will take pound.. Not sure if it was Darrell johnson or his cousin - didn't bother to say hi. No prob must me busy with call in orders, did notice display of family death - what ever reason, when he walks over to give order , no eye contact. ?? What's up -check order.

NOT kidding 1/4 pound of brisket passing off as a pound.

He could have passed off the 3/4 pound and would not have noticed in the first place

Between the half A.. cold and warm mix Not sure what's up

There is more, but food seemed good. Will try again wonder if someone shafted last customer..

As you see we have been to many questionable areas for bbq ..
