Chaba Thai 6434 Phelan Blvd Beaumont, TX 77706 Dateline: Feb 22, 2025 I ordered the Khao Soi; a new menu item with a chicken thigh in yellow curry on a bed of noodles with cilantro, vegetables and crispy noodles. It was great. The curry was good and spicy but what was unexpected was that the flavors were not all mixed together into one. Instead, as I ate from different sides of the bowl, I was introduced to a different, yet complementing flavor in an extravaganza of flavor. The curry was good in itself and was soaked through the tender, pull-apart chicken. The cilantro and vegetables were each great, yet distinctly separate. The crispy noodles offered a good contrast of somewhat succulent, oatey flavor. This was easily a five-star meal. The restaurant located in a strip mall and the decor is standard quality for the area.
I have eaten at Chaba many times in the past. Ever since they were in that little place on Lucas; there is a reason they have grown. They are usually consistent but have been off a little only a few times at the mid-county location (now closed).
Here at Chaba, I had previously settled in on the Chicken Pineapple Curry for my go-to and was never...
Read moreGood Thai food for Beaumont. I won’t be able to remember the Thai name of everything so I’ll just call if by it’s number to description. The Prawn rolls were excellent. Not too crispy but not soggy. The Tom Goon soup was full of flavor and spice, severed to great temperature. The number 48 was not too sweet but not to spice, veggies not over cooked and squishy. Seafood properly seasoned and cooked thoroughly. The pad kee moa was great. Not too spice but full of spices. Noodles cooked to perfection with just enough meat. The micro greens top it off! The Sweet tea was ok. Some places burn the leaf or let it sit out all day and start to sour. The only down fall if it was it was too sweet. Next glass I got half and half. All in all service was exceptional. Hostess was very friendly. All in all I...
Read moreUsed to love this place. I used to work here even. Been ordering to go for years. Over the years the quality and value of the food declined over time and today my to go food was so poor it made me leave this review.
In both of the $13 Pad Kee Mao I ordered, I had 2 shrimp. Two. My entree Pad Kee Mao also had less than 35 grams of chicken. I even paid for extra vegetables which I did not get, paid extra for steamed veggies which were so small it was laughable. If this restaurant had any Thai competition in town it would be blown out of the water their standards have dropped so far. I held my tongue for a long time on this but today was the final straw.
Completely ridiculous how far they have gone cutting corners. Just like most other restaurants in Beaumont that taste success, they got...
