The West — Restaurant in Beaumont

Ordered from The West Bar And Grill through Waitr! My first mistake was assuming that those high prices and fancy descriptions & pics of their food items actually represented what I was paying to receive! We ordered through Waitr, which is always the way to go, especially if your trying a place for the first time! Which we were. The West Bar And Grill needs to either get a new chef or come down off their high horse, price and describe their food as it is...a little worse than fast food!!! This is what we got compared to what the menu described: From the Appetizers menu- Onion Rings $6.60 Piled high hand-battered onions rings served with ranch: What we got: There were only 8 onion rings in what was supposed to be a "piled high" appetizer order, and they were extremely thin and greasy...NO RANCH...a whole bunch of ketchup though! So that's$.82/.83 cents per onion ring!!!

Chicken Fried Steak $13.20+$.99 ex gravy = $14.19 Hand-battered tender beef cutlet with cream gravy. Served with roasted corn and potatoes. What we got: Was one of the biggest offences to someone who doesn't eat seafood and to all beef lovers, both the chicken fried steak and the steak fingers tasted as if they had been cooked in FISH oil! Also both entrees came DRY, thank goodness I had paid for ex gravy! The steak meal came wth a corn side that was equal to a tablespoons worth of corn with 2 tablespoons of grease and the mash potatoes were so so blah! - Oh, the toast was okay.

Steak Finger Basket $8.80+$.99 ex gravy = $9.79 Served gravy and seasoned fries. What we got: Steak fingers were unseasoned except for the fishy tasting grease they were cooked in! Also they came dry! Thank goodness I had paid for ex gravy!

Sweet Potato Fries $2.59 What we got: Very thin, tasteless, except for the grease and just wrong for a Southern restaurant!

So, to The West Bar And Grill I say, 'I know this was a to go order, but I'm still paying the same as your sit-down customers, now I will not even think about giving you a second chance'...made me wish there was a Pitt Grill still in business😰...if they're going to serve McDonald's quality food then they should charge...

Update: After calling several times asking for a manager to return my call and leaving my contact information, I never got a phone call returned once. I ended up having to dispute the additional charges with my financial institution, fortunately I saved my receipt! IF YOU PAY WITH A CARD HERE, VERIFY THE AMOUNT CHARGED ON YOUR BANK STATEMENT! I personally will not be going back, bad business. Shame on them for disregarding that behavior from their employees...

Original review: New to town, visited this establishment with some friends to try it out. It is a cute little bar with a "dive bar" feel. I enjoyed myself, we were at a table an had a waitress, Maddie, serving us. The service was just okay, she wasn't super attentive, but I also don't know how many tables she had?! I left what I felt was a fair tip of over 20% and when checking my bank account, it appears that the tip went through for more than what I had elected. I was charged an almost 40% tip instead. It wasn't a HUGE dollar difference, but it is the principle of the matter. Unfortunately, as a server you do not get to elect the amount of your own tip. She may have thought I wouldn't notice and most people probably don't. I am currently awaiting a call back from the manager, we will see if they do they right thing. I am not sure if this one incident should cost Maddie her job, but who knows how many other times...

Not a great first impression. Sat at the bar and asked what beers they had and he pointed to a shelf with about 2 dozen bottles of beer and then walked off. None of them are what I wanted. When he came back I asked what he had on draught and he pointed to the tap handles and walked off again. I couldn't tell which were which and couldn't get close enough so I had to wait until he came back to ask him to list them for me. He read them off quickly and in the most annoyed voice you could imagine. After I picked a beer everything went much smoother though. I ordered my wings which were decent and then nachos after that which were probably the worst nachos I've ever had. How you mess up nachos that bad is beyond me.
