Incredible from start to finish. Kyikyi is working behind the counter, cleaning the tables, and speaking with customers in addition to having has made all of the food that you eat. And thatâs not even getting me started on the quality of the food and the exceptional value provided.
The chicken and cilantro dumplings are so good that I ate them twice the same day that I tried them for the first time. I had them for lunch and had to go back for dinner and have them again, theyâre that good. Theyâre healthy, not overcomplicated, and they maintain their homemade authenticity (you can really taste that theyâre homemade). The dumplings are juicy and flavorful and the sauce that comes on top is chefâs kiss. When I came back for dinner, I also ordered the chicken and cilantro hand pies as the noodles were sold out. Just means I have to come back and I canât wait! The hand pies are delicious, as well. Theyâre the same filling as the dumplings but in a baked dough. I donât eat beef or mushrooms so I canât say how the other dumplings are but my boyfriend said the beef ones are incredible, as well.
If youâre in the area, donât miss this place. If youâre not in the area, itâs worth every penny for a special trip to eat here.
Itâs a simple restaurant in a strip mall with a few tables. My suggestion is to arrive before 5:30-6pm as they will (and do) run out of food. Our wait was about 20 minutes but it goes fast.
Another table had their order lost in the kitchen due to the printer running out of paper to print the ticket (for the cooks) and Kyikyi comped their whole meal due to their long wait.
Sheâs incredibly generous and I want to see her succeed. Read her story on the walls of the restaurantâitâs super cool!! And go...
Read moreWe had an awesome meal at Himalayan Dumplings today! Greeted by the owner as soon as we walked in, she inquired if we were familiar with the menu, which succinctly offers three dishes, each with a variety of flavors that accommodate vegan consumers.
We had the steamed cilantro chicken momo, the curried potato hand pies and an order of the chicken chow mein.
Everything was delicious. The Himalayan cilantro sauce served with the momo really stood out to me as the most unique dish we had, but I really enjoyed the hand pies as well, especially when carefully dressed with the spicy garlic oil (which packs a real spice kick).
The chow mein reminded me a lot of the Chinese takeout lo mein I grew up with on the East Coast, just with a thicker noodle. But who doesn't enjoy a thick, chewy wheat noodle stir fried with cabbage, carrot and seared chicken?!
We also had mango lassi with our meal which really helped manage the heat from chili oil, and then we left with a bag of frozen curried potato hand pies and the beef momo.
We'll definitely be back and we're hoping to visit Kyikyi at the Tigard Farmer's Market...
Read moreI loved the taste and idea. We loved the hot sauce the most in particular.
I think the only thing that threw me off though is that some, if not all of the dishes have that sort of after taste that some microwaved or frozen food has? That's why I deducted a star. I loved the atmosphere and service and everything.
