my friends and i regular this place on the weekends as we’re locals. last night my boyfriend, my best friend, and myself were here for a night out when a strange man came up and started bugging us, he even put his hands on my friend. we asked him to leave us alone and he would get aggressive and mean, he continued to touch my friend on her legs, and putting his arm around her. we went to a group of girls across the bar for help and they told us that he had harassed them on multiple occasions, and threatened to “shoot them” whrn they would ask him to leave. we then went up to the main floor (where he followed us eventually) and told the bartender what was going on to which the bartender told us his name and admitted that this was a regular occurance with this particular man. he went downstairs and said something to him but nothing was done. the man then followed us to the upstairs portion of the bar and continued to harass us. until we eventually just left. my friends and i rack up $30-$40 tabs per person where as this strange man had a bottle of new amsterdam vodka in his pocket from CVS. it is RIDICULOUS that this happened. and it is RIDICULOUS that its happened to multiple people and that the bartender wouldnt do anything about it. so ridiculous that we will NOT be going to this bar anymore. if you cant trust your bartender to keep you safe then who are you supposed to turn...
Read moreWe were on a trip in West Virginia, and happened to stumble across Foster's Main Street Tavern. I'm so glad we did! We had already had dinner, so we just had a couple of drinks at the bar. First the atmosphere: Foster's leans heavily into the eclectic bar vibe; from the furniture and decor to the layout and fixtures. The whole impression is that this is a laid back bar scene. The drinks were delicious, and while we didn't have any food, I caught a whiff of the wings, and they smelled delicious.
Finally, Mallory, the bartender, was absolutely amazing. She made us feel welcome while still taking care of everyone else at the bar and all the drinks in the restaurant. Since we are from out of state, we asked her opinion on things we should do while here. She is a wealth of knowledge, and very engaging.
If you are in downtown Beckley, and looking for a fun and unique experience, do yourself a favor and stop in at Foster's Main...
Read moreFoster's was wonderful. My mom and I were spending the night in Beckley on our way home to Chicago. We wanted something local for dinner so we ventured away from 64 and the strip of chain restaurants to downtown Beckley. What a pleasant surprise. It was a real quiet Thursday night but Foster's was open and we decided to check it out. The food was great.
But it was the people that made it wonderful. We sat down next to a couple from Lewisburg and they us great recommendations and even let us try their fried ravioli. I had the Gouda Good it was great and my mom loved the Ruben. We chatted with the couple next to us throughout our meal, they were supper sweet. It was good people as they say. Much to our surprise after they left the waitress (super nice too) told us they had picked up our meal and bought us a second round.
Such kindness from a stranger will always be how I think...
