My family and I were having a bad day. We'd just lost someone very close to us, and after a doctor's appointment late in the afternoon, none of us felt like cooking dinner. We were originally going to grab some burgers, but then we got a craving for Indian food, and decided to come here for dinner instead.
The first thing we noticed was that that the staff was very attentive, even coming along to refill our water cups before we'd even run out. This was on a Monday evening of course, so it was less crowded than around lunchtime, but I got the feeling like the staff really cared about their customers.
Now, customer service is all well and good, but what about the food? Well, to put it shortly, the food was absolutely delicious, some of the best I've ever had. My butter chicken was rich and full of flavor, and my family's dishes were just as good. It was well-spiced, unlike some places that skimp on the spices to save money. It remains to be seen whether this place will do the same later on, but having met the staff there, I am optimistic.
The size of the dishes was also impressive -- for some, one order of curry would be sufficient to feed two people. They also serve a free appetizer -- spiced potato wedges and veggies with traditional Indian sauces. What really impressed me, though, was the complementary dessert -- a small dish of rice pudding. Small, but again, sufficient for many people.
Overall, I was very pleased with the quality of both the food and the service. I look forward to going again for the lunch buffet, some time in the near future.
Advice for consumers: The heat level of the food here is definitely tailored to American audiences. If you love really spicy food, be sure to let them know -- I (nervously) ordered my butter chicken hot, but in the end it was actually relatively mild compared to some other places. Which wasn't a problem, it was still delicious, but it's something to keep in mind when ordering. Also, bring either your appetite or a friend, as the portions really are...
Read moreWent here for dinner Saturday night because of the great reviews here. And the place totally delivered! The food was delicious and very authentic. The Tandoori lamb chops might seem pricey but they are worth it and more. The makke di roti sarson da saag reminded me of Punjab. And the dal was so delightfully spicy! No random white people stuff here.
Given the quality of the food, we were surprised to be the only table on a summer Saturday night in a pretty upscale neighborhood. Especially because they were clearly doing brisk takeout business.
But then the indifferent service made it clear why. There were two folks working, a young man and a young woman. And they seemed to be more into chatting with each other than looking after our needs. I had to walk over to them to ask for a water refill! Maybe there's a love story happening. In which case, we will gladly be the party that got ignored for a greater cuter good.
But otherwise, the service did great disservice to the quality of the food, which is some of the best Punjabi food I've eaten in the US. There is no real reason why you should have to explain to an Indian waiter in an Indian restaurant why you want small bowls (I even said "katoris") to share the absolutely delicious dal tadka among the four of us. Dude came and asked for detailed verification of exactly what I was asking for.
Towards the end, even though it was about 15 minutes before advertised closing time, after we had enjoyed one of the best gulabjamuns I've ever had and were thinking of ordering some quick takeout, the waitress pretty much rushed us out, saying "we are waiting for you to close up".
Well, excuse us for thinking that you might want a little more revenue for no extra cost on a Saturday night.
I hope the owners see this review and do something about the lazy service staff, because your...
Read moreThe worst food and people. I ordered for catering for 13 people i had 17 guests come in. First of all they gave me way too much food than needed second it was all raw and tasteless it tasted burnt they don’t even know how to cook chicken karahi it literally had whole pieces of onions in it they goat curry was so tough it felt like you’re trying to eat bone. Chicken tikka was watery and had no spices the biryani had nuts on it when it doesn’t even go in biryani. I called to complain the owner said to bring in the food to restaurant so they can taste it when i brought it in they were so rude about it cussing at me in the kitchen blaming it back on me that i ordered extra food and told me they are not gonna give refund and i can leave the food when i told them i would feed it to people in need they were like yeah we don’t care do whatever with it. They told me to sit and wait for 30 minutes they will give that food (my order that i brought back) to customer which is CONTAMINATION and see if customer complains. They were literally gonna feed someone else’s food to customers. I would never recommend to go here especially for catering orders. The chef came out and told me if i would have brought the food back in 2 hours they would have thought about it like he was telling me i should have left my party to come return the food. People were very rude they were cussing at me in...
