I am writing to unconditionally recommend the work, price, and professionalism of BostonWood furniture. My story is complex but compelling! To begin, I would like to call out and thank all those who worked on our project : From Paul, Mike, and Stacie in the store to Gregg and Wallace who built the furniture to (finally) Greg and Little Mike who arranged and executed the difficult deliveries. They did the work under tight time limits and with a degree of skill and professionalism that is very rare and hard to find. My son and his wife live in the south end of Boston, I live in New York. They were expecting their first child on March 25th. They needed an armoire and some bookcases to finish off the study and family room before the arrival of the baby. They purchased an armoire and a bookcase online but the armoire fell apart when they attempted to assemble it while the bookcase did not fit since it needed to be installed against a brick wall and over a base board heating unit. This put them in a real bind with the baby due in a few weeks. It was late February with only 4 weeks to get it done before the baby arrived. My son and daughter-in- law were 24/7 at their jobs and unable to handle the complications of finding someone at the last minute to do the job. I took on the task and began calling places in Boston without any guidance or references . I was fortunate to call BostonWood ! I talked with Paul who was sympathetic but not sure the team could get it done on time . He put me in touch with Mike who was my go-to person and leader of the team. Mike took on the challenge and the entire team was tasked with last minute details : getting wood and color samples delivered to the south end- no time for mail! They matched perfectly the Farrow and Ball paint colors on the walls ! They did an amazing job. They were able to build the bookcases in sections and install with moldings so they look as if built on site. Likewise for the three door armoire which was built in 3 separate Top door sections with a bottom base section and installed over the baseboard moldings and then anchored to the wall. As with the bookcases , the armoire looks as if it was built on site. Building the bookcases and armoire in sections allowed them to navigate a three flight narrow , steep and winding staircase . Mike and his team thought of every conceivable complication and dealt with it preemptively ! The final installation was the armoire which was finished on Friday , March 21st. I returned home to New York on Saturday morning . On Monday the 24th my daughter-in- law gave birth to their daughter Louisa at 5:26 pm- right under the wire! looking back on those few weeks when Mike and his team worked tirelessly and with kindness and professionalism it was an amazing experience. I selected their team blindly- I did not have a chance to inspect the furniture but was only able to describe what was needed. The team took that information, and found the ideal solution for our son. They produced two beautiful pieces of furniture that will last a lifetime at a reasonable price , with kindness and concern, under great time pressure. The BostonWood team exceeded our expectations in every way. And there were no overcharges for the hundreds of calls and texts from a worried grandmother in NewYork. I can never thank Mike and the team at BostonWood enough for taking one The task and delivering beyond anything we could imagine. I will leave my number with Paul and Mike for those who have further...
Read morethe furniture is gorgeous, but the communication and timeline left a lot to be desired and it ended up slightly different than expected. if you decide to work with them, be prepared to be proactive asking about progress and when things will be ready and you'll be happy with the results.
my dresser is very large - when originally described over the phone they offered it could be built as two stackable pieces so it's easier to move, which was a great idea. but then that didn't actually happen. I didn't realize it wasn't included in the CAD they eventually sent for confirmation. Due to the giant size it was very challenging to load into my room and the top got dented from bumping into something while they brought it in.
I ordered on Dec 31 2024 and was told it was a 6-8 week process, which should have meant it would be complete by the end of February. It wasn't delivered until April 24th.
I would probably still work with them again, because the actual furniture they made is very nice quality and I like supporting local businesses. but if I do, I will be much less trusting that they are working on my project and will be more actively calling and checking in on them over time. I will also be even more careful looking at the design they send me to make sure it matches what...
