We went to Betsy’s, the restaurant located in Evelyn’s Park. We went for breakfast. We had been to the park before, but not the restaurant. We loved the design of the restaurant, both inside and out. Well done. We snagged a table in the corner. We looked at the menu, which is very limited in choices. I chose one of the quiches of the day (bacon and cheese) and my husband selected the Avocado Toast.
It took a little while to get our food, but it was worth the wait. I dug into my quiche immediately as I was hungry (!) and had already taken several bites, exclaiming how delicious it was, when my husband said, that is not a bacon and cheese quiche. Oh my! He was so right! It was spinach and mushroom, but at that point I did not care. It was really good and I was really hungry! The quiche crust was obviously made from scratch with lots of butter. (If not, I want to find out where they get the crust!) Just be aware that it is rich (too rich for my husband’s taste).
My husband’s Avocado Toast was also very good. (Described like this: Seedful bread, crushed avocado, radish, feta cheese, sprouts – and for $1, you can add an egg!) He, of course, added the egg, which I would recommend to counter the richness of the avocado.
My only constructive criticism to management would be to have (fresh) orange juice! (They did not have orange juice at all.) The coffee, according to my husband was very good (actually, I think he had a cappuccino and then later refilled his cup with regular coffee). I don’t drink coffee or tea, nor did I want a smoothie, so I had to...
Read moreWe went today for the first time in more than a year and I was not impressed. The food was a little pricey. I paid $16 for a black bean burger subbed fries with quinoa salad and a smoothie. I waited longer than I hoped to for those two items. When I finally got the burger, it was just ok and it was cold. The quinoa salad was really good. It tasted fresh and flavorful. The smoothie was really good as well and my kids and I loved it. I asked for spinach to be added to it and we could not taste it, so I was happy that they could have a healthy drink that tastes good. The service was not good. Both times that I went up to the counter, the woman behind it was rude. I seemed like a bother to her. The man that delivered my food was not the nicest either but not nearly as bad as the woman. On the weekend it is very crowded. There was absolutely no seating outside but I was lucky to find only one empty table inside. So I would not recommend it if you'd like to sit down at a table and eat. The plus side is that you have the big open lawn to eat on if you don't mind eating on the grass, we usually do that. We might give it another shot since we frequent this park but probably not because of...
Read moreI have been to Betsy’s now twice. We moved into the neighborhood and thought it is such a cute place we can walk to on a nice day. The first time I visited was 2/19/20 for breakfast which was good as well as their coffee. However, the service was TERRIBLE. The lady working the counter had the worst attitude ever, and every time we asked for something or anything we did bothered her. The second time I visited was for lunch on 3/16. The man with the arm tattoo didn’t have an attitude, but the service was still bad. My friend ordered the soup and a water bottle: he forgot the water bottle and the soup came out cold. Her daughter ordered the kids hot dog: the hot dog came out cold. I ordered a turkey sandwich with sweet potato fries: I received regular fries instead. To top it all off I ordered my husband a Togo chicken sandwich and when I got home to open the food there was only lettuce in the box.
I will probably be back, but only to enjoy a glass of wine or coffee in the...
