Today, I treated myself to a For the Love of Food Truck burrito for breakfast. Now, I've never been disappointed with this decision for years, but today was something other-worldly. I started by walking up and was greeted with smiles and happy conversation. Thanks for setting the bar for my day so well! Next, I drove home with this foil-wrapped slice of heaven, filling my vehicle with smells from some other land, a happy place full of wonder and excitement. Unwrapping the double layers of foil (to preserve the heat and increase the anticipation, obviously), I was in awe at what was before me - a burrito larger than my abnormally large hand, a tortilla toasted to perfection, and the smell...oh...my...word... my dog started drooling from across the house in his sleep. First bite. Let me preface this - I have no idea 'which' burrito I have; I call and ask for '1 chef special'...and I have never been disappointed by Moises' skills and choices. Also he adds some jalapeño for me. My taste buds have never been so on point, so broadly spread as to send a cacophony of electrical signals to my brain, which was able to process the noise into an understanding of something incredible. Instantly hit with a smokey/sweet punch, the meat shredded but not abused. The crispy potatoes and rice popped when crushed, adding a wonderful textural component. I'm pretty sure there is cream cheese in here, as I have this silky texture coating my mouth briefly, enhancing the sweet of the meat, but also bringing to light the smokey notes. There is a bit of heat from the jalapeño, counterbalanced by the sweet of the meat and cheese, but everything is so perfectly balanced, my brain is struggling to keep up. It's like Christmas morning as an adult father. The kids are amped up with anticipation, and you can't wait to play with them either! But first...coffee and maybe a sweet confection - taking your joy to a different level of happiness. Yes, this burrito is better than Christmas...because you have can this all year long. What can I say? I'm in heaven. I'm on another plain of existence. I have ascended to the clouds of the food truck afterlife and am looking down at the best dang food truck this side of paradise. Do yourself a favor, do the pleasure centers of your brain a favor, do your diet a favor - experience this little food truck. You deserve a cheat day, you deserve dopamine, you deserve the best deal for a burrito the size of your head you could ever ask for. There is no negative to say here. The value, the product, the cooks, and the experience....it's something you simply owe yourself to try once. You will not regret it. (nor will you stop at only once). (I was not requested nor sponsored for this review. I paid for the shirt myself. I tip. This place is simply that good).Hands down, the best breakfast burrito I've ever had, and the friendliest...
Read moreUpon walking into the restaurant for the first time, I was already welcomed and greeted by the lovely Jacklyn and the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen. I've been meaning to come here for a while, but I hadn't had the chance to do so. The menu was all burritos for lunch, but each one was very unique in flavor, so it was hard to choose from. Apparently, their menu changes day-to-day, so it's always new and exciting! I got the Cuban wine braised pork burrito, and damn, it was delicious. The place is CASH ONLY, though, so be prepared. But there's an ATM nearby, so it is very convenient. I stayed there for a while with a friend, and we were treated with such great customer service from the owners. I got to talking with both Jacklyn (Jacqueline?) and her husband Moises, and they were very wonderful to talk to. Their amazing love story translates into everything from the exceptional service, the quality and freshness of the food, and the cozy atmosphere. The high remarks and multitude of awards they've received are definitely warranted. I'm definitely going to be a regular here for sure. It's good to finally have THAT place to come to - a place that makes you...
Read moreWhy did I wait so long to try their food? I'm not a fan of food trucks, but now that they're in a permanent location I was game and I'm glad I was. I'm a biscuits and gravy afficianado and these definitely met my standards. Enough sausage to make it tasty and the gravy had a perfect texture with nice soft biscuits. I only added a smattering of pepper to season it and that's unusual. The scrambled eggs that accompanied my platter were hot, fluffy, peppered with ham chunks and properly spiced. The coffee was good as well. Hubby had the breakfast burrito which was huge and benefitted from a little additional salsa. I think I'd order it without the rice next time as I didn't feel it added significantly to the flavor or texture. Just a personal choice, nothing that made it any less delicious. I'd like to try some of the rotating breakfast items on the limited menu next time, anticipating them to be just as good. Perhaps next time maybe we'll try lunch. The owners are great folks, very friendly and eager to please the customers. Take cash, they're keeping their costs down by avoiding all the card fees, kudos to them on that...
