TLDR: the food here is fantastic and at a very fair price!
There aren't many places on the Eastside open later at night, so I'm super happy to have discovered this place that closes at 9 on most days!

The menu is very extensive, serving hotpot, boba, fried chicken, and other Chinese foods. I've only tried a few dishes from here, but am excited to try many more on the menu because everything I have tried has been amazing!
Mala Chicken: Note: They have a dine in promotion where you can get a generous serving of this which can feed 2-3 people for $9 and change. It's a huge amount of battered and fried bite size pieces of chicken, dusted with seasonings and served with peanuts and green onions. Salty, savory, and spicy but more of in a tingling sense rather than in an overwhelming manner.
Basil Fried Rice: A simple egg fried rice that is somehow so much more elevated than what I can make at home. Now, you may be thinking, "Why should I pay for egg fried rice? I can make it at home for so much cheaper!" BUT YOU CAN'T. The texture of the rice is PERFECT and somehow every grain of rice is separated in this dish rather than glooped together. The best reference point I can describe it as is Din Tai Fung's EFR, but you get so much more here and for a much better price.
Chicken Sandwiches: MOVE OVER CHICK FILA!! This is one of So Tasty's most popular dishes, and for good reason! The chicken is battered in a light, crispy, incredibly crunchy dough, but is still perfectly moist. The spicy version adds the perfect kick to it.
Jasmine Milk Tea: This was a solid, standard milk tea! Good balance of the floral aroma, sugar, tea leaves, and milk. Also, more affordable than most boba places nowadays.
Curry Fried Chicken Rice: Rice, Veggies, and a heaping pile of fried chicken over a silky smooth curry filled with tender carrots and potatoes. Chicken was very crispy (even with the curry) and the curry was perfectly seasoned. It’s my boyfriend’s new favorite curry spot!

Read moreSo Tasty really delivers the food according to the name sake. We had been there once before and the experience wasn’t perfect-cold fried chicken piece. This time was pretty amazing.
We ordered half (spicy) & half (original) fried chicken thighs, waffle fries, basil fried rice w/ shrimp, and mala (numbing spicy) soup pot with lamb and rice noodle. All are amazing! The soup was spicy hot and really helped with coping the unusual seasonal cold; the lamb tasty. Basil fried rice was a decent surprise because it was so perfectly seasoned with a great aroma of stirred fried. Who knows the fried rice from a fried chicken restaurant could be so darn good?
We were absolutely thrilled about the fried chicken. They were GOOD. I hate dried fried chicken and like crispy skins. So Tasty’s fried chicken fit my bill completely—the outside so crunchy, the inside so juicy! They were truly awesome! The fried chicken were made with the “scalp” coating, which I have heard before about how crispy they would be. It was true! When I took a big bite of the thigh (caution, hot!), the meat juice was oozing out. What a satisfying chicken eating experience! I had an original flavor thigh but SO said the spicy one was even better.
In our quest of finding the more superior fried chicken in the area, we found that Krispy Krunchy Fried Chicken was a pretty close competitor. Both places served piping hot, flavorful, juicy, crunchy chicken pieces. However, Krispy Krunchy’s Cajun marinate was pretty amazing and it gets really inside of the chicken pieces (I couldn’t guess how they do it but it was intriguing for sure), the skin was crispy but not a lot of coating. So Tasty’s has less of the marinate flavor, juicier meat, and thicker coating. Both...

Their soup and rice noodles are amazing, I'll always get some to go. Wonderfully flavorful but not heavy broth and springy rice noodles. This reheats wonderfully as leftovers for a rainy day! Super comforting.
Their chicken is fried fresh so you'll need to wait a bit longer for your meal if you order some, but it's worth it. Super crispy outside and juicy and tender on the inside, it's best eaten fresh for maximum crispiness like any fried foods, but even when you reheat it it stays tender and juicy, no dryness at all. Usually I'll order chicken to eat fresh and take home the noodles to eat another time.
Their boba tea is also very smooth and creamy in flavor (some boba places oversteep their tea which adds a lot of bitterness that cuts through the milk and sugar, but not here though) and the tapioca's soft but chewy, the ideal combination!
If you want to sit down and eat in person, they have outdoor seating with umbrellas too. Great place. There's a park at the end of the road from the restaurant too, complete with a paved trail for walkers, a playground, and even a skater bowl, if you're looking for something to do before or...
