This review is for the Sizzler in Torrance on Hawthrone and ArtesiaBlvd.. This is one of our favorite places to eat and chat. There's a manager with colored hair named Angela, who is not friendly to the customers or the employees. At the counter, my daughter inlaw asked my 6 year old grandson to grab a Sizzler gift card. My grandson was so excited to grab it, and then this manager gave him a look and told him not to touch them. My grandson's face told me how she made him feel. He went from feeling excited to wondering what he did wrong. My daughter inlaw asked him once again to grab a card, and the manager once again told him, "No, don't touch." She proceeded to take the card display off the counter. It wasn't that my grandson was playing with it. We were going to purchase a gift card. To top things off, there was an elderly employee cleaning up the dishes on the tables. His phone rang, he looked at the screen and answered. The same manager crept up behind him where he couldn't see her. She stood there, making a face with her hand on her waist. Then she got close to him to tell him he wasn't supposed to answer the phone at work. He turned around to continue cleaning, and he jumped when he turned around and saw her standing there. He tried to explain it was an urgent call from his roommate. She proceeded to nod her head to him and repeatedly told him he couldn't take calls at work. He responded to say, "I know." She made a face at him and walked away, nodding her head. What kind of work ethics does this manager have. What happened with Workplace Harrassment Training? Did she take it? We were shocked and disappointed at her unprofessionalism, and she made the environment at the restaurant uncomfortable. Shame on her! It was unnecessary and uncomfortable to witness this type of behavior from a manager. Those types of conversations should be handled behind closed doors, not on display on the restaurant floor in front of the customers. By the way, this is not the first time we have witnessed this type of behavior from her. Someone from Corporate should interview employees about work ethics and the environment. The employee was embarrassed because he saw we witnessed the manager...
Read moreI and son ordered steak entrees which were delicious while wife had full salad bar. Problem started early on where we asked our waitress twice for napkins. When she came back, she distributed napkins to two other tables. After asking a 3rd time, she brought enough napkins to really accomodate 1 person. I then went to the manager and explained the situation and he gave me more napkins. You would think when she brought the meals, with one heavily coated in BBQ sauce, that she would leave napkins from the get-go. Next issue, our soft drinks are empty, so we visably place cups at outer edge of table, but she refused to look our way. While at this time she is catering to all other tables in our section, so wife had to get up and go to counter and ask for a refill. Wife then noticed she was deliberately ignoring our table, which we both spoked to the manager. So the only interaction we ever had from this poor excuse for a waitress was at the beginning to give us our meals, drinks and salad plates and cheese toast. We never got asked if we desired another serving of cheese toast or anything else. Maybe she had trouble catering to an ethnicity outside her race, she was Hispanic and we were AA. The reason for that statement was all patrons in our section were of Latino heritage, and she faithfully attended to them. I have never in my entire life not left a tip, even with so-so service. But I was so hurt and furious with her interaction that I didn't leave a cent. I never got one soda refill and I didnt make a second trip to the salad bar, since my appetite was spoiled. All I know is I will NEVER patronize Sizzler #083 and I will be contacting corporate in...
Read moreSizzler is a solid American "Family Steakhouse" as it's touted these days, but the experience varies greatly by location. This was my first visit to their Bellflower, CA location and I was incredibly impressed. While the prices strike me as quite steep for what is offered, the experience overall at this location was too notch - specifically related to the staff: Jayde and Marcos are to specific standouts. They were warm, welcoming, engaging, helpful and really went out of their way to make our meal and our overall experience just fantastic. The steaks are okay. The shrimp is okay. The Malibu Chicken is okay. The Salad Bar at the Bellflower location really shines with being well stocked and offering a nice variety of salad fixins, pre made salads, as well as hot items like potato skins and chicken wings, spaghetti/fettuccine and meatballs with mariana sauce, the makings of nachos and tacos, a nice selection of soups, and some tasty, sweet dessert options. The lighting and ambiance at this location, while quite loud and boisterous, was pleasant and much better than any other area Sizzler we have been to in the recent past. Well done across the board, but especially for having a staff with attentive, well trained and helpful staff like Jayde and Marcos. Well done, y'all! Thank you again for taking such good care of my...
