Carruthers Park has recently undergone an impressive transformation, making it one of the standout parks in Bellflower. The newly rebuilt playground is a fantastic addition, with modern equipment that ensures children have a safe and enjoyable space to play. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into the design, making it not only fun but also accessible for kids of all ages.
One of the highlights for me is the newly added workout area, which is a great feature for those looking to stay active. It provides an excellent opportunity for adults to get fit while keeping an eye on their kids at the playground. While I do wish they had an American Ninja Warrior-style setup like Thompson Park, the workout area is a solid alternative that still encourages physical activity and community engagement.
The skate park is another amazing feature! I have fond memories of skating there as a kid, and it’s great to see that it’s still a popular spot for skaters of all ages. The design and layout are impressive, offering a variety of ramps and obstacles that cater to different skill levels. It’s a fantastic place for both beginners and seasoned skaters to enjoy.
The park also offers well-maintained restrooms for both men and women, which is always a plus when you're out enjoying the day. Additionally, the basketball courts are in good condition and provide a great spot for some friendly competition or just practicing your shots.
Overall, Carruthers Park is a wonderful place for families and individuals alike. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of other parks, its cleanliness, modern facilities, and inviting atmosphere make it one of the best parks in Bellflower. Whether you're looking to relax, play, skate, or get a workout in, Carruthers Park has something for everyone. Highly...
Read moreA huge portion of the park that faces Flora Vista is torn up & cordoned off by caution tape for some sewage drainage project. All of the toys are gone, as well as the wading pool. To be fair, I haven't been here in a while, so they may have been gone before this. The community center is still there, as well as the tennis courts. I could not tell if the baseball diamond(s) that were in the southwest portion of the park are still there & if so, open, or not. There was some cool looking fitness equipment on the east side of the community center/office building, but that was about it. Not the same Caruther's park my friends & I used to get chased out of for riding our horses thru back in the day. I hope they bring all the cool stuff (like the rocketship & wading pool) back. I was kind of disappointed. This was always one of my favorite parks when I...
Read moreThis park offers several benefits, but my 20-year experience here has also highlighted areas of concern that need attention. While law enforcement presence is sometimes intimidating, individuals struggling with addiction often require more discreet support. Public safety officers must balance their duties with compassion, avoiding profiling and harassment of those perceived as addicts. Private security personnel, contracted by the city of Bellflower and South Coast Patrol, should prioritize de-escalation techniques over displaying firearms. Recognizing the distinction between those struggling with addiction and those simply perceived as such is crucial. Although the park's riverbed area faces challenges related to fentanyl activity, the skatepark serves as a positive hub for aspiring skaters, demonstrating the park's potential for...
