Lucas Pizza & Burgers — Restaurant in Bellmead

Monday night, 6:00 p.m., dine in A good friend of mine and I decided to go here for dinner tonight. There was only one table in the restaurant when we arrived. A young man happily greeted us at the door. We sat ourselves as the sign said and waited just a moment for the man to come to our table. We ordered unsweet tea and diet Coke and the first thing he told us was they didn't have any sweeteners. We ordered cheese sticks for an appetizer and he quickly left to order that. I ordered the catfish and onion rings and my friend got the burger and fries. The food took a while as the waiter was the only employee we could see besides the cooks behind the window. He was busy starting another two top and our food just sat there. He was finally free to bring our food and we asked if we could have our cheese sticks. He apologized and said he forgot them and that his handheld device wasn't connecting. My catfish was absolutely outstanding. It came with two huge pieces! The onion rings tasted homemade and were absolutely fantastic. The waiter brought me a half of a bullet of tartar sauce which was not nearly enough for these two huge pieces! I asked for another and never received it. We were nearly done with our meal and I asked for a box for my second piece of fish. The waiter brought the box and our cheese sticks. Three of the five had popped so we were left with empty sticks of just batter. Altogether the bill was $40. If you pay with credit card it was another dollar 😡 Our poor waiter did not have too many tables, he just acted as if he didn't know what he was doing or just didn't care. He was very very friendly, but if he couldn't handle these three tables, what would he do with the whole restaurant full? This man has been here since day one and apparently he has been failing since day one as well. A good friend of mine said he orders the pizzas to go and said they are fantastic and he never has a problem. Just my luck I decided to dine in and my experience was a failure. This type of experience usually occurs on a Saturday night at 7:30 when a restaurant is packed and the kitchen is overwhelmed. This was simply not the case today. Have to say this was a confusing visit. The atmosphere was awesome, super clean, with space to offer. The menu was very easy to read. So here's what happened, so when we started to our we were told it would be about an hour for a pizzas, due to a large order they had. After a brief discussion, we placed an order for 1. 14" Meat Market Pizza, but got & paid for a 20" and 1 TX Philly Cheesesteak and 2 teas for $42. Since we were told it would take an hour, we left Bellmead to go to Central Texas Market Place as we got there. The Chep's called us and told us the order was ready. We told them it's would be 20 minutes and was told that was fine, it would be going out of the oven then. Well, the pizza wasn't "fresh" it had been waiting for several minutes, see the photo. However, the TX Philly was very hot. The inside was like new , so that an automatic 5 star. I'm going to give the service a 5 stars. They were friendly and attentive, but a bit hyper, and I bit hard to understand at times. I'm giving the food 4 stars because all of it wasn't present when it was made...

Bellmead/Waco, THE Best real NY style pizza and Philly Cheesesteaks, period. Trust me, I know both extremely well, I'm from South Jersey and grew up eating both, ALOT. Pizza: 🍕 Hand tossed, fresh dough, perfect crust, got the snap and chew, AND the fold ! High quality toppings with just the right amount, all cooked the right way! Cheesesteaks: Excellent, high quality meat and rolls( Amoroso of course) cooked the way it supposed to be.Highly recommend. Burgers are delicious, best around, excellent Quality and Taste.Big, will fill ya up! Cheese Sticks: highly recommend, BIG, perfectly fried cheesesticks served with the home made marinara and grated Parmesan. Fries, and onion rings: love em, best around! SERVICE: Chep and everyone working here are just great people who take pride in the food they are serving. Very efficient, Extremely clean, well run restaurant.
