I went to Tortas Nissi to try it out for the first time & I was greeted with a hello when I first entered, which made me feel welcomed. I told them I wanted something like a Philly cheese steak & he explained that he had a torta made with Bistek meat. I ordered it, & I heard him start to make it. The scent of beef and vegetables that it comes with like tomato onion, lettuce, cilantro if you like, avocado, chipotle & jalapenos was making me extra hungry. He asked me questions like did I want this or that on my sandwich which was a plus because I didn't want everything on it. I was there about 15 mins total. Finally got home & started to eat this huge sandwich & it was extremely awesome tasting. French bread was soft, beef was flavored very well, veggies added to the flavor of the sandwich. I thoroughly enjoyed this torta & I will be back for more! Please visit this local establishment because it is so good! A little pricey, but well...
Read moreOkay, hear me out. We came to this place because of the reviews. Now, I will preface this by saying I am from that Rio Grande Valley and we are about 45 minutes from the Mexican border so we got authentic Mexican food out the ying yang.
I came to Waco on business and decided to bring my family here. I tried the Texana and my wife tried the Hawaiiana. My kid had quesadillas. These tortas are huge. I would trade in size for better tasting tortas. My texana torta was just okay. It lacked flavor. My wife's Hawaiiana torta was incredibly salty. Our total bill was $44 and this includes 2 horchatas and 1 lemonade. The jalapenos had zero zip to them.
The restaurant location is kinda iffy in my opinion and the place was hot inside. There was a couple of flies that kept annoying us. Needless to say, we we're let down. Lots of potential though. I hope they improve their food and...
Read moreThis place is as unprofessional as it gets! They dont keep the business hours that they post online nor on their door sign; on 2 separate occasions, we called to ask whether they would be open during their normal business hours, the woman who answers confirmed that they would be open, and we show up, and they're not open. Today, their business hours say that they're open till 7pm and we show up at 5pm, there are several people inside (all dressed in white, like it's a cult meeting), and they have their "open" sign turned on, but they tell my husband that they're not open and not serving food. Don't waste your time going, don't waste your gas, and don't give your business to people that have NO consideration for...
