My husband and I went out to eat last night at this very restaurant and I must say I’m astounded. From the visuals, it seems so appealing and high quality, But when you have your food placed in front of you? Absolutely terrible things begin to happen. It’s quite clear the place is ran by young teenagers now. There was two girls gossiping at the cashier while people were waiting for their bills to be picked up. I ordered “The Works” from the spaghetti favorites section assuming it was going to be one of the best, and that’s where I went wrong, assuming this restaurant had lovely food. My husband ordered the “Pasta Sampler” from the baked pastas section. Our server, Kobe, was kind and polite, offering us dinner rolls while we waited for our meal. He came to refill our drinks when they were only half empty, he was attentive, and that was most probably one of the best things a server should be. Now, about the food? If you happen to order what my husband and I ordered, don’t bother! The Works had too much roasted garlic and basil, not to mention only one Italian sausage about an inch and a half long and one meatball around the same size, in fact, if you wanted to really get at the root of the problem, I think it’s whole basil leaves mixed into the spaghetti, I pulled 3 or 4 stems out of my mouth because of the people in that kitchen. What a shame! Full basil leaves are garnishments, not a mix in. The Pasta Sampler is a good experience when it’s cooked right as it used to be, however, with the people in the kitchen nowadays? It’s an ombre effect of heat. The left side of my husbands plate was burnt to a crisp, while the right was still cold or lukewarm. Seems as though it’s really gone down hill at Luigi’s. We get to the dessert, we were going to get a strawberry swirl cheesecake, however it was still frozen, it’s obvious they don’t make these fresh everyday, so we ordered a turtle cheesecake, it’s quite clear that it’s been pre-made. My husband himself is a bakery chef, he was disappointed in the out come of this restaurant and so was I. My tips for the employees and restaurant owners: When you chat, do it out of the public eye, it makes you seem as though you aren’t paying attention to your customers. Bake fresh everyday, no one needs to have cheesecake from three days ago. Add less roasted garlic to the spaghetti and more Italian sausage and meatballs. Don’t mix whole basil leaves into your sauces. Bake pasta evenly across, it shouldn’t be that hard to do. Kobe, keep up the great work I’m thankful for your service last night. Food makes for everything in a restaurant. Make it good at...
Read moreMy family and I love this place and have been eating here for over a decade. We have tried many of the dishes and my go to has changed over the years because they have such good options. If you are needing recommendations, you can't go wrong with the tortellini alla pana (kind of sauce like marinara mixed with alfredo), my go to for the last 6 years has been the Chicken Genovese. We have also gotten pizza with the alla pana sauce, on the rare occasion that we order pizza. One of my favorite things about this place is that if you are trying to go low carb, you can get any pasta dish over veggies instead of pasta. Yes, this does come with an upcharge, but I appreciate that they have a healthier option available. The last several times we have been there the service was quick but we were not there during busy hours.
It doesn't bother me and my little family, but my parents have made many comments about how dark it is inside. To me it adds to the cozy romantic feel, but if that is something that you don't particularly enjoy, be aware.
They do have a kids eat free night (I'm sorry I don't remember which day of the week it is). But know that they don't have any kids activities like some restaurants do (coloring/activity menu with crayons), so if you generally use those, bring your own entertainment if needed.
If you haven't been here before, they don't serve alcohol, but you are allowed to bring your own bottle of wine (and maybe beer) and they will provide the glasses for you. They provide free bread with butter at the beginning of the meal and have additional dipping sauces for purchase.
Overall, we love this place and recommend it to anyone who asks for a good Italian...
Read moreI usually love ordering takeout with my boyfriend from here. Their bread rolls are great, pasta is too. However, this time we decided to dine in, as my sister just moved down here and we were wanting to go out to eat... well, service was OK. The food... I ordered the tilapia; mind you, tilapia is not a very fishy fish. It is mild, and does not stink. This tilapia smelled, no - reeked, didn't look right, and tasted even worse. I took a few bites just to give it a chance, but no. I removed it from my plate. Now I wish I had just not eaten anything on that plate at all. Fast forward to later this night, and my stomach starts hurting (sharp pains and I feel my intestines churning). I got diarrhea and we couldn't even go out for drinks like we were planning. Instead we got stuck inside the house with me running to the bathroom every 10 minutes. Terrible experience, and even after I said the fish smelled and tasted like it wasn't good/fresh, the waitress kept it on our bill and didn't do anything to accommodate. We called the restaurant later and told the chef/co-owner that the food made me sick and they should probably throw away the fish in that batch, and they didn't say anything. I don't think I will be going back here. Terrible service and not at all the reaction I would hope for from a...
