Country Fried Turkey Dinner is now available and oh man is it good!
We don't have any Cracker Barrel restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area where I live. So anytime I visit my daughter here in Benbrook, Texas we make a point of having a meal here.
Apparently, today was the very first day for the Country Fried Turkey Dinner ($12.49) and we decided to try it and we're not disappointed in any way! That turkey was moist and delicious and crunchy! Covered in some country gravy with a cranberry sauce served on the side. We like it on top of the whole thing so you get a little bit of all the taste together. Total winner 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
We also ordered the Maple Bacon Grilled Chicken lunch /dinner ($12.99). Super yummy. Served with two sides, I got Mac and Cheese and the Hash Brown Casserole Tots from the premium side so they cost me an extra $1.99. Golf ball sized balls of mashed potatoes with cheese, sour cream and maybe a touch of chive all rolled, batter dipped and deep fried. No regrets, they were totally worth the extra money.
After we were done eating we packed up two full leftover boxes, we're going to get a couple more meals out of those servings 😂. Paid by QR code straight from the table using my phone. This is something that hasn't seem to catch on in the Bay Area, but I would very much like it if it did!
A big part of Cracker Barrel seems to be their gift shop and for good reason, it's awesome! They're ready for Christmas and have some of the neatest decorations and other Christmas gifts available. If I lived here, everybody in my family would be getting something from Cracker Barrel for Christmas and they'd love it! As it is, I made some purchases to take back with me. Great for those travel gifts for people who are difficult to find something for. I have included photos of many of the things that caught my eye. Lord knows I love some sparkle!
As for the service, it was excellent. We were seated immediately and our server was prompt in taking our order. And visited the table several times with pictures to refill drinks if necessary. Very sweet!
For the restaurant ambiance I gave them four stars because it's difficult to be perfect. When there is a crowd, it can be a little loud. Not the restaurants fault in any way. If their food wasn't so dang good, it would have been much less crowded at 11:00 on a Tuesday morning. 🤣
Thank you Cracker Barrel for another delicious meal. Even though I don't live here, I have joined your rewards program so I have good reason to...
Read moreWe came because my wife wanted breakfast and said in the past, cracker barrel had good breakfast. What a mistake. We both regretted that decision.
Every single step of the way our experience couldn't have been worse. From trying to get in line and having to download an app that refuses to work to actually check in, to the service and the food.
The breakfast items on the menu they provide you mention they come with "breakfast" sides. But those do not exist anywhere on the menu. So I just asked for my meal with regular sides, (assuming they must be the same since there aren't any breakfast sides listed anywhere). My wife finally found them online later. But we were given actual menus that are apparently incomplete.
Our server later came back explaining that I could not get the meal I wanted with regular sides, that I had to choose a specific breakfast side. I explained to her that those did not exist in the menu. After some really awkward back and forth, she said I could get those sides I wanted if I switched to the new York strip and eggs meal instead. I gave up and just compromised and said sure. She forgot to ask how I wanted that steak cooked, and since I originally wasn't ordering steak, I didn't think about it either. Instead of coming back and asking me, I guess she (or the cook, who really knows) just decided to make an executive decision. And they couldn't have been more wrong. I WOULD have ordered medium rare or even rare. But wasn't given a choice. This poor thing came completely charred to bits. It was leather.... This should be an actual crime. What blasphemy. My scrambled eggs w/cheese came watery, and the cheese was just a piece of sandwich cheese slapped on top at the last minute barely halfway melted. The server DID offer to have it fixed, but I was already over it. They were bad, no flavor, and horrible texture. My French toast was bland and also had a horrible texture. Looked pretty pathetic too. Our appetizer (hashbrown tots) were super greasy and not even the slightest bit crispy, just soggy. My wife's pancakes were very "meh" at best. Her ham was really dry and hard. She also got the hashbrown casserole and it was pretty bad as well.
Not kidding when I say this is the worst breakfast I've ever had. By a mile. Cracker barrel can do better, this was truly shameful from beginning to end. They were busy as it was lunch hour and total chaos. But still guys, not one thing was done right that I...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped going to Cracker Barrel for several months because of a lot of great items were dropped off the menu. One biggie was the cornbread and several vegetables. We thought we would go back yesterday and give Cracker Barrel another chance. We were very excited to see the cornbread back on the menu, along with the Greens & Sweet Potato Casserole! Also, we have been upset that you dropped pinto beans, carrots, greens etc. Well, we were please yesterday that my wife could order greens again and I could order the sweet potato casserole. But, oh no. For some stupid reason you can only order Greens on Monday & the sweet potato casserole on Thursday. How stupid is this??? It appears that Cracker Barrel is not the customer friendly restaurant you once were. Sad to say but, to the point Cracker Barrell needs to fire the people in the menu department due to the fact they have become quite stupid. Sorry to be so blunt but how can the leaders of your company allow such stupid decisions such as this. So, my wife and I were looking forward to a great experience yesterday but instead we left mad. I know for a fact there are a lot of people that are very angry with Cracker Barrell and this is not the time for a Restaurant to be making customers mad due to the fact you know and I know the Restaurant business is struggling due to inflation, economy etc. If Cracker Barrel doesn't get their act together and don't listen to your customer base I am sad to say but at some point in time you will have employees lose their jobs due to layoffs and stores may end up closing. Again. I am not saying these things to be mean. I am stating the facts because Cracker Barrel was always an "elite" Restaurant but has now become a Mediocre...
