Rush's Squares — Restaurant in Bend

While we've had a lot of good experiences here and their pizza is always delicious, we did have a rather disappointing experience there on the night of 3/20...

We tried calling in our order an hour before close, but no one was answering and we kept getting voicemail, no big deal, so we went down to the food truck to order in person. We waited at the counter and we're completely ignored at first by the two people working inside the truck (made eye contact and everything, and we're still ignored). Not only that, but the man working was being a complete a**hole to the female worker, and berating her for getting toppings wrong on a pizza (it happens, does not deserve to be yelled at or humiliated for). It was completely unprofessional. And then the man turns to us all of a sudden claiming that they're closing early and not taking anymore orders. That's fine to close early, but it wasted our time by not answering the phone to let us know that, and seems like that was just made up on the spot right then and there, cause they were clearly still working (when not yelling at the poor employee). So was not a good experience tonight. I'm not sure who the owner of the food truck is, but I feel they should address that employee who was being a jerk, and/or if that employee was the owner, that is very upsetting to see you treat your employees that way and that makes me no longer want to support your business. tl;dr: Great pizza, but way over priced.

The pizza is good but the price is very high (even for a food cart) and considering that the menu is very inflexible to half / half orders or customizations makes the price too high to want to come back. If the main dishes were about 10-12 bucks each and the toppings were .50 cents each then I might come back but $18 with tip (for a house specialty pizza) is too much for an 8x8 pizza in my opinion. This food looks amazing and other reviews say that it is! However, while visiting Bend with my family we came to the food carts excited to try some of everything. We went up to ask when they open, as all other carts had already opened, and we were met very rudely with “I don’t know, we have a large order to fill”. No follow up or eta, just “I don’t know”.
