Victorian Café – A Must-Visit Breakfast Spot in Bend, Oregon The Victorian Café in Bend, Oregon, is a gem for breakfast enthusiasts looking for top-notch food and a cozy atmosphere. While the prices lean toward the higher side, the quality of the food and overall experience make it well worth the splurge. The restaurant offers ample indoor seating with a warm, inviting ambiance, as well as a comfortable outdoor seating area that’s perfect for enjoying a sunny morning. The service was attentive and friendly, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable meal. Our breakfast was truly outstanding. I ordered their take on huevos rancheros, cleverly named “Huevos Mazatlan” on the menu, and it was nothing short of amazing. The dish was beautifully presented, packed with bold flavors, and expertly prepared. Each bite was a testament to the café’s commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients. If you’re in Bend and looking for a breakfast spot that delivers fantastic food and a relaxed, charming vibe, the Victorian Café should be at the top of your list. A bit of a splurge, but absolutely worth it!

I am so glad we listened to a friendly guy in front of us in line at Sporks the evening before, because it was his recommendation that we went. It was everything he said and more! The quaint little cottage house provides a cozy experience that was paired with a cold snowy morning creating a post card scene that we were able to enjoy from a table in an old bay window settled in a previous bedroom of the old home. The food options were so difficult to choose from I had to stop reading the menu because I had too many things picked out. Nice option suggested by the waitress was to order a half plate providing more option to variety. We certainly savored every morsel to the point of holding onto my plate to scrap every drip of caramel sauce off. (since I shouldn't lick my plate in public I am told) We have already passed on the menu and recommendation to family in the surrounding area so they too can experience this lovely place. Great service, friendly snappy dressed staff, cozy environment, and creative chef quality menu backed with farm quality food! We absolutely hope to return again!

The first time was excellent! The other two times have been progressively worse. Staff don’t seem experienced in customer service. Host had a “I don’t give an F” attitude. We had to ask if they had forgotten about us while we waited over an hour for our table (surprise, table had been ready).

There was a mistake to our order today and no apology or attempts to remedy the issue.

I ordered hobo potatoes and added in andouille sausage. They brought out the order without the added sausage. Within a minute, another server brought out the corrected order. She said there was a mixup - someone ordered plain hobo potatoes at the same time. She saw that I put my fork in the plain hobo potatoes, and said “actually since you touched that, I can reuse this one (the correct meal) and I can bring you a side of sausage. Now, the correct order had the sausage mixed into the hobo potatoes, which totally adds flavor to the dish, (as opposed to having it on the side). Before I could say anything, she walked away. I wasn’t given an option to take my correct order. What did she mean by reuse the meal? That was my order? The other person had plain hobo potatoes, so I’m really curious what she was going to do with that.

15 minutes passed until the side order of sausage came out. By then, we were done with our meals.

Server didn’t seem to understand why we were frustrated, but did remove the additional charge for sausage on our bill.

For the cost of eating at restaurants nowadays, it’s simply not worth it if the service isn’t even going to...

The hard part about writing a one star review is where to start. I and my dining mates were super enthusiastic about the menu and the Bloody Mary and Mimosa selection and I wish that we were continued to be excited.

Fortunately the drinks held up and receive a 5 star.

Unfortunately not so much for the food and service. We did have two food allergies at our table-one more common than the other-but we were upfront and communicated clearly and worked hard not to overcomplicate the order. Our actual server (not the food runner, or second server who helped with the table and were terrible) was great and understanding-the rest of the staff could have cared less, and argued about the existence of one of the food allergies and then lied about the inclusion of said ingredients and poisoned the food allergy guest.

I understand some might say don’t go out to eat-but that isn’t realistic and this is a food allergy that can be avoided with food and menu knowledge-two things you expect from a chef and serving team-something The Victorian had neither of. The basic Sysco quality food over seasoned with Lowery and paprika is standard for a restaurant hoping it’s hungover customers won’t recognize the low quality food. I know it’s Covid-but honestly that doesn’t change the food quality or the lack of menu knowledge. We still paid and tipped the one really good server we had well-because it wasn’t her fault.

Will we ever go back? Nope. Will we recommend. Nope. Can we find other fantastic Bloodies and Mimosa’s in...

I thought this place would be so much better, as it had some pretty rave reviews. It was incredibly disappointing, to say the least. We ordered water and coffee to start, but after our food order was placed, our server didn’t come back over to our table until the food arrived about 20 minutes later. Our water and coffee was long empty when she brought the food, and she just dropped the plates and started walking away, so I had to flag her down to get refills. We did not see her again until the check came, no check-in at all. The food was terrible. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs; his eggs were cold upon arrival, the biscuits were doughy and the gravy was very oily so it was just mush, totally unappetizing. He ate two bites. My toast had a long, blonde hair in it. None of the servers had their hair pulled back, which is actually a health code violation, very unsettling to see in a food service environment. The housemade applesauce was bitter and had a very unpleasant filmy aftertaste. My omelette was well overcooked, the eggs were bone dry and the bacon tasted like it had been cooked several days ago. When our check was brought, our server did not ask how the food was, and there were two obviously full plates in front of us. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, and I’m completely baffled by the great reviews this place has received. I’m willing to overlook one or two negative things, but everything from the food to the service...
