I had a very bad experience with a male server!! We were there last night and have a 13 years old with us for a BD party. We were asking if we can have the chef testing menu and wine pairing except only one at the table which is a 13 years old guest. The server was herrible he did not attempted to ask but he informed us right away that no, the policy was not allowed. I know that the rule is will have the be for the whole table but I have to ask since the condition was different, so that’s why I asked. I was facing the counter bar and I saw that he went ahead and talked to his colleague and laughter about that. Anyhow, I was hoping for more professional. He came back and informed us that the chef is not allowed to do so which we had already plans for a “no” from him after I saw the action. I have been to many Michelin stated restaurant all over the world and I know that this situation is not a big deal. Chef knows how to deal with this situation. Overall the foods were awesome since we decided to go over the whole entire menu for sharing and our own favorite bottles to go with ( no more wine pairing). (There were a little bit here and there for the weird situation but I forgave them) However, there was a very awkward at the end when the server came and asked me “oh..is it your BD”? when it was my surprised belated BD since my BD was on 03/28. My husband put in a request a month ago. I find that it was super weird. I have never ever been asked like this before. At the end the desert with BD candle and the message shows on the dish said that Happy Birthday came along with the awkward situation when everyone is expected after I shared the information. I wish this place a good luck and I know that they can do very well with their amazing food but I have to put this comment since this was our first time experience with the restaurant but not impressive with the service. I was hoping that this message got addressed to the manager or someone who take care of the service evaluation that the gentleman who took care of our table was very bad and had plenty training to go over. The attitude was the main thing that needs to be corrected. I hope the place is there and provide the good food for a long time. I would love to come back but sorry for the first...
Read moreAriana Restaurant is a good choice if you're looking to enjoy upscale dining in Bend. I visited Ariana for the first time recently and had a great experience, although I have a couple of minor critiques. The atmosphere was quite cozy and comfortable outside, and the food and drinks delicious and well-prepared.
During this visit, I didn't see the inside of the restaurant, which is a converted bungalow. I was able to join my party on the back patio directly through an entrance from the parking area behind the restaurant. The patio is nicely screened from the parking with a wall containing a built-in bench, with a trellis above the wall that's covered with hop bines trained up to the pergola overhead. It's a well designed space, and the tables are placed such that they have a sense of privacy while maintaining a spacious feel.
Starting off with drinks, they had a great looking selection of cocktails. I quite enjoyed the pisco sour. You can request an (off-menu) variant of the sour with pomegranate; it's a little sweeter and takes the edge off the lemon juice. There's also quite an extensive wine list, with most offered by the bottle but there's also a robust by the glass offering.
The entrees are apparently changed periodically, while keeping a few favorites, so return visits should not be boring. For dinner I chose the filet mignon, cooked rare. It came out cooked closer to medium, but the dish was still delicious, so I didn't make a fuss.
I noticed that our server didn't ask how our food was, otherwise I would have mentioned it. Overall, our waitress seemed slightly aloof and erred on the side of being less intrusive. Personally, I prefer a server who is a little more engaging and less formal, so that detracted from my enjoyment slightly. However, these are my only complaints about the experience. Everyone else at my table really enjoyed their selections, and all the dishes were plated attractively.
This restaurant is very popular, so it can be difficult to get into, but you can usually find a spot at the bar early on a weeknight. With a delicious rotating menu, well-crafted cocktails, and a cozy atmosphere, Ariana is well...
Read moreI could hardly be happier with the Saturday evening I shared with my family at Ariana. I was looking forward to the experience for weeks, and was determined to make the very most out of it, a goal I had absolutely no trouble achieving. The warmth of the restaurant was invincible, even with the freezing snow outside, making for the delightful feeling of being protected and cared for during the meal. Visually and aesthetically, Ariana is unbeatable. I have no doubt that it’s the finest looking and most welcoming interior of any Bend restaurant. The seats are comfortable and the tables, draped in luxurious white tablecloths, are very spacious; landing pads for some of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. All three of us opted for the Chef’s Tasting, as it was our first time at Ariana, and it was as, in a word, faultless. The starter course, salmon tartare with truffle cream, was packed with exotic and mouth-watering flavor. The scallop with onion bisque was possibly the very best dish of my entire life. The staff were kind and generous and their knowledge of the menu shone brightly. The decadence of Ariana speaks for itself - expect to be surrounded with guests in suits and fine blouses and gowns, proper attire for an evening of true fine dining. For all the elegance, however, Ariana is anything but stuffy or pretentious. I felt so welcomed and comfortable, able to just relax and sit back as the well-paced meal progressed. All in all, Ariana is the very image of upscale dining, one of few premier...
