I’ve been a loyal customer of Fritz Bakery for years and have always loved their cakes. They are beautiful, delicious, and usually a highlight of our family gatherings. However, my most recent experience was disappointing, not because of the cake itself (which was great), but because of the way a problem was handled.
For my brother’s engagement cake, I provided a cake topper and fresh raspberries for decoration. When I picked it up, I didn’t notice right away, but once I got home I realized the acrylic cake topper had been broken into three pieces. The cake itself was intact and the drive was very short and smooth, so I immediately called the bakery to let them know. Thankfully, I had ordered a second topper that arrived later that day, so I was still able to use that one on the cake.
I spoke with the manager on duty around 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 20th. While he did say “I’m sorry you’re unhappy,” there was no apology or accountability for the actual issue, the broken topper. Instead, I was told it “definitely wasn’t them” and was given unhelpful suggestions like taping the topper back together, using a birthday topper, or putting some kind of edible picture on top (which wasn’t clearly explained and didn’t make sense for this cake). He also kept asking me what I thought happened, which was frustrating because I was calling them for answers. What bothered me most wasn’t the broken topper itself, but the lack of ownership, professionalism, or effort to make it right. Even something as simple as offering to cover the cost of the topper or giving a small voucher or coupon would have shown they cared about keeping a long-time customer happy.
I still love their cakes and will likely order again, but this experience left me with a bad impression of their customer service. Hopefully management takes this feedback to heart, because good customer service is just as important as a...
Read moreI do-not recommend this bakery. First time here and everything they sold me was hard as a rock and stale. I tried calling to discuss the situation, but nobody answered the phone and I couldn't leave a voice-mail because they don't have this service available. I drove over an hour to get here from Kennett Square Pennsylvania because I heard such great things about this place. I know for a fact, I will not be coming back here ever again. There's no way the girls could put their hands-on those pastries and place them in a box and not know they were stale. This is just ridiculous! When items become old, hard and stale, they should be thrown away in the garbage immediately, not served to customers just to make some money. Avoid this place like the plague! I do-not recommend them to anyone! Have a Blessed day....
PS: I almost forgot the most important thing of all, they do-not support the 🇺🇸US Military🇺🇸. This is appalling and disgraceful behavior! If you cannot respect your valued customers or the US Military and our Veterans who serve/served to protect our freedoms, you surely do-not deserve to have...
Read moreMy experience at Fritz Bakery in Bensalem was decidedly mixed, falling short of the high expectations set by its 4.7-star rating. On the positive side, the cannoli were a standout, deserving a full 5 stars for their excellence, and I would definitely return just for those. The cream cheese frosting was satisfactory, earning a solid 3.5 stars. However, the main reason for my visit, the vanilla raspberry cake for a birthday celebration, was a disappointment. Although the raspberry jam center was decent but overly sweet, it failed to reach the edges of the cake. The buttercream was excessively thick and oddly incorporated into the cake, which was counterproductive. The most disappointing aspect was the sponge cake itself - it was dry and lacked any discernable vanilla flavor. Regrettably, we ended up discarding the remainder of the cake. While Fritz Bakery may excel in other items, I would advise against choosing the vanilla raspberry cake. I...
