Edited for June 5th, 2024. It had barely been two weeks since our last visit and what a whole different experience it was. We arrived upon opening at 11am. The service started out fine but it quickly went downhill. Our server was very inattentive and distracted. I specifically ordered my toddler a "brown beef hot dog" and we were definitely not served that. Mind you, she even confirmed what I said. My lunch portion of the pulled pork was half fat and about a quarter of the fries tasted undercooked. (I'm adding a picture of my child's NOT brown beef hot dog and the lunch menu).. We waited and waited and waited for our check and a to-go box - NOT for the hotdog - but neither was brought to us. I had to take the plates up to the counter and continue to wait and wait and wait. Very rudely she took $2 off of the bill for the hot dog. I'd also like to add that the same server left a money bag right by the register - for all to see and easily have access to. If someone wanted to snatch that - anyone could have grabbed it. Totally irresponsible!
After this "wonderful" experience, I can assure you we will NOT ever go back to the Benson location. We're willing to try out the Fuquay location and we sure hope it'll be a better experience! I posted this part after our first experience on May 23rd, 2024. 5-stars... But I have had to edit it after our last experience, both at the BENSON location..
I had no idea this place even existed until we were in that area a couple of weeks ago! We were pleasantly surprised!! The food was excellent, the service was great, and it's a cute little spot!
The only thing I didn't care for was the work you had to put forth to get some napkins out of their dispensers. With small children, we had to struggle to get them out (it's irritating to have to bring the dispenser into your space when there's food all over the table). Many of the napkins were being ripped, trying to maneuver them out. This was our only issue.
They also serve ice cream and they have...

We came in around 1115, so food should be pretty fresh. It wasn’t that busy and it seemed like the servers didn’t want to be there at all.
-Ribs- Decent. Somewhat dry, lacked smoke flavor, and the membrane wasn’t taken off the back. Ended up getting a small “end” bone. Not sure why they would serve that. -Pulled Pork- Again, decent. Somewhat dry. Had a good smoke flavor. -Brisket- Very dry, over cooked, and lacked smoke flavor. -Beans- From a can with small amount of bbq sauce and small amount of pulled pork in it. -Jalapeño Cheese Fritters- Very Greasy, but had good crunch and good flavor. Probably the best thing here! -Potato Salad- Loved the mustard flavor and big chunks of potatoes. -Collards- Big chunks, which we loved, but missing flavor. Added in the vinegar sauce and some salt and pepper to add some flavor. -Pasta Salad- Originally didn’t order this, ordered Potato Salad. But they corrected this. It was decent. Tasted like generic pasta salad. -Brunswick Stew- very tomato forward. Most brunswick stews around in the area are more bbq sauce forward. It has potential to be better but all you can taste is tomato. -Hushpuppies- small bite sized. Good flavor. -BBQ Sauces- All the sauces served a purpose. They offer a vinegar sauce, sweet sauce, mild sauce, and hot sauce. The hot sauce isn’t all that spicy. All of them have good flavor.
All in all, it’s a decent bbq joint that’s open 7 days a week off the interstate. If you’re wanting “Craft BBQ”...
Read moreRecently I got takeout at Daddy D's in Benson, and honestly I didn't go in with very high expectations, because Benson doesn't really have many good places to eat at all, but in the end I was very impressed.
The staff are very kind and friendly, the sanitation rating is 100, and the restaurant is a very welcoming environment. There are cute pig jokes plastered on the walls of the interior (because it's a BBQ joint), and there are also images of our flag, and military symbolism. I do not have any family who served in the military, but I appreciate this, because this is a wonderful country, and in this age of wokism and self-centeredness, I especially appreciate displays of patriotism. I want to return to eat inside, but I didn't have the time on my first visit, so I got takeout.
I ordered the Three Little Pigs Burger, a burger topped with BBQ and bacon. It come with a decently sized portion of fried okra. The burger was freshly cooked with real meat. It was like a burger from the steakhouse. A steakhouse burger with a side for just over $11 is a very good deal.
The burger and okra didn't come with a drink, but it didn't matter, because I ordered the sweet tea. And their tea is exceptionally good, it's rare to ever go anywhere where they make tea that good. I don't know if I just come on a good day, but if the tea is always that good, I could come just to drink the tea.
If you ever find yourself in Benson, I would definitely recommend Daddy D's BBQ. Most places in this town will disappoint you, but Daddy D's is...
