Drove into town hungry and our Airbnb host recommended this place. Her nieces work here so we were excited to try it. Hostesses were great and got us seated fairly quickly during the lunch rush. Our server was sweet took our drink orders and came back to take food orders. We had three kids with us ages 1, 4 & 6 so we were doing what we could to entertain them after being in the car for two hours and hungry. An hour goes by and the server comes up and tells us when she put the order in two entrees we ordered had sold out. AN HOUR LATER!!!! Why r u telling us an hour later while we’re sitting here trying to keep a 1, 4 & 6 year old calm!!?? We really should have walked out right then and there but we were still hungry and wanted to take the kids to the beach right after thinking they would have full bellies. Soo we picked something else from the menu and we’re told it would be out shortly. Another 30 mins goes by and now I’m fuming but trying to remain calm because I have three kids and I don’t want this experience to ruin our first day of the trip.. 10 minutes later food comes out but not all at once. The burgers we ordered were awful. Very greasy. Dripping in oil. The server did apologize multiple times for the food coming out so late but our whole dining experience was ruined and the food did not make up for it! The manager did come and also apologize then took 30% off our bill but really the whole bill should have been taken care of with that terrible service and food. It should not take and hour and 45 mins to cook two burger patties, two pancake orders, bacon and a Turkey sandwich. My mother doesn’t like confrontation and told him it was ok but it was NOT ok. I also didn’t like how the manager put the blame on others. I worked in the restaurant industry for 8 years, so I know serving isn’t easy but this was my worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Definitely won’t...
Read moreTreated my husband to brunch today at the Mason Jar Cafe. My husband is a picky eater, usually his order consists of a burger or a simple chicken sandwich. I was nervous about spending $12+ on his meal because who knows if he'll like it. We decided to risk it and here we are.
I ordered the gluten free zucchini bread waffle ($11) and added chocolate chips and bacon for $1.50 (yes the bacon goes in the waffle). My husband ordered the Amish chicken sandwich ($12) minus the tomatoes and lettuce. We got the food and he just sorta stared for a second. My heart sank, "is it not what he wanted? Will he eat it?" I wondered. Well he did and he said it was amazing. I loved my waffle. It was so crisp yet fluffy, you could hear my knife cutting thru it and it still was soft and delicious. To quote Bob's Burgers "it has excellent mouth feel".
Our server was extremely awesome. I didn't catch her name while in the restaurant but my receipt told me our attentive server was Niambi. Our water glasses never got more than half emptied before we got a refill and she was asking us how we were doing, always with a smile. She is clearly an excellent waitress and I hope she waits on us next time we stop by.
The atmosphere is very eclectic. Lots of metal staues outside and various unique decor inside really makes the expierence. I love places like this that don't use your typical decoration. I ended up just looking around at all the interesting amd cool things while we waited for our food.
Will definitely be back asap. Would give 10...
Read moreLong lines on the weekend and a very undesirable Host area with servers coming out right across from this tiny standing area but...once sat our server was great, their homemade lemonade is amazing! Food was average, I got a 2 egg over medium breakfast with Canadian ham and toast, wasn't very hot, flavor was really good on the diced red potatoes but not warm however for me what saved the place was all the little artists booths/shops inside. The 3 that were open the Saturday we were there were all neat lil shops. One was over the top amazing...it's the one with the larger crystals in the window right next to the dinning room. The owner/ lady running it inside was truly amazing and we enjoyed our talk with her so very much and of course we enjoyed the peices we purchased from the shop. Overall I would go back maybe just much earlier in the morning versus early afternoon and probably never on a weekend! They have a great little place with a cool set up once you get past the entrance/host stand. Wish them all the best as I know they were extremely busy that day, we had a reservation through yelp that secured our place in line (2 hour wait) so with that they are doing something right! Better heat...
